I got the XDs 45, almost identical to the 9, I love it, to me it's the best, beaver tail safety grip, action trigger system, fiver optic front side, very slim profile, I think the standard mags on the 9 comes with 7 rounds and you can get the extension that can hold 9. I think the Springfield offers you more that the others

Hickok45 did a nice comparison on YouTube. Google it.

I really like my XDs 45 but can't comment on the Shield.

My bud has a XD 9mm. I've shot it a good deal. Nice trigger and very accurate. I don't like the double stack magazine, but that's why I bought a Shield.

XDs 9mm is single stack. XD9 is double. The XDs 9mm is new this year.

Well my mind was made up. After reading all this and watching the video. I got to feel the XDs before I decide.

I have always been a Sprinfield fan, I have an XD service, and an XD sub compact both in 9mm. I bought a Shield9 just because I had extra cash.. I did not expect to like it that much but it slowly became my favorite. It replaced my XD9sub compact as my carry piece. The Springfields have a way better trigger pull but it really does not bother me.. Sure the XDS9 will be better quality but they will both perform great. Get the one that feels best to you. I don't think you can go wrong with either..
There is a YouTube video comparing the xds9 and shield9 side by side, they are both great guns.

I haven't tried the XDs. Is the slide slimmer than on the XD?
