It's almost time... Basketball is back!

I know several of you could care less, but it is the time of year I get out of the house about twice a month to see 12 pro games a year. We are original season ticket holders, now going on 26 years of supporting the Miami Heat.

Here I am with my two bud's, three time NBA champion Dwayne Wade, entering his 10th season this year, and two time NBA champion and four time MVP LeBron James, also entering his 10th season. I don't know if we are going to thre-peat in 2014, but I am pretty sure it is going to be a fun ride!

TimC ... you are on again this year!

I said it once, and I'll say it again, " If it wasn't for the NBA, America would have the world's tallest garbage men".

Dan, Do you really know those guys or was that a photo op for season ticket holders?

26 years is a long time...So you remember the Knicks - Heat wars of the 90s....when some one would pick a fight and half the team would end of suspended for the playoffs.

Are you by chance a Fins fan too?

The only way basketball would be interesting again would be for the basket to be raised 3-4 feet.

I was a 'fins fan starting in 1972 when I was being raised in Ohio, and been one ever since. I don't go to the Dolphins games but once a year, and I used to have season tickets to the Marlins and the Hurricanes. I have spent some times with the Panthers as well.

I don't know LeBron or Dwayne Wade well enough for them to know me. LeBron's two boys go to the same school with my daughter ( Bronnie is 1 year younger than my daughter ) and we see each other occasionally. That picture was taken at a season ticket holder event. There's only a few hundred original season ticket holders left and we get to hang out with the team twice a year. Last year I played Pictionary with Chris Bosh and Rashard Lewis, and had pictures taken with Udonis Haslem, Mario Chalmers and Alonso Mourning. They really are a great group. My daughter got to spend the day in "camp" with a friend and get trained on 8 different sessions, including free throws, footwork, defense, etc with half the team.

Here we are with the 2012 Championship trophy:

In three weeks we get to have picture taken with the 2006, 2012 and 2013 trophy...

Nice....I've been a fins fan for a while too....though in the panhandle, there are a lot of saints fans. Growing up, I just loved the way the dolphins played.

I never liked the way the marlins were played or owned. In the start, I think they were more concerned with winning the series than playing good ball as a team. I grew up watching a lot of braves games. That is another story there...but when the Rays came along, I really loved how they played. Been a rays fan ever since.

I never liked the heat. I liked west coast ball better. The team dynamic with the Lakers was something I really enjoyed. Kareem, magic, duvoc, van exel...those guys really played good team ball. They understood an assist was still points for the team and that is what was important...I stopped watching the NBA when the lakers traded jones and exel to keep Kobe.

I think that is neat you guys get to interact with the team like that...that is real cool stuff. And good looking family!

You are pretty tall feller yourself Dan, if I remember correctly from the SE Shoot. Did you play BB when you were younger?

Seen a guy at working walking by (I'm 6'1") and I always wanna look up toward the clouds and ask do you play BB?

Looks like you and your family have a sport to be fans of together that you really enjoy and that's a good thing :up:

I played ball in high school, and intermural ball in college, plus a few years after. My knees gave out. I was always at center / post back when I had some springs. At 14 I could dunk a volleyball, but my hands were never big enough to palm a basketball. So, my team mates and I worked the alley oop. If they could get it above the rim I could dunk it. It was some fun.

Sports have always been a passion for me, and it does give us family time. Today I am taking my 9 year old girl to a swim meet, and hopefully we will see some significant progress. Our future Olympian... :)
