Amazing big cats...I remember the excitement when they were found to be moving into the borderlands in the Southwest U.S.....I'd love to see one in the wild.

I remember that too and IIRC correctly, Capstick made his bones as a cat man in South America.
Teach your children to love guns, they'll never be able to afford drugs
One just showed up on some dude's trail cam in Arizona. Cool to see them moving back into their historic range, but a daunting notion to think of running into one on a hunt in the wilderness!

I don't think these big cats are any great danger to man. I've worked around them in the Maya Mountains of Belize where the population density is one of the highest in its normal range. They will actually come around dwellings about dusky dark and very early in the mornings. I saw two, I think, at a distance while putting together a forest/wildlife management system around Thousand Foot Falls in Belize, and I definitely heard them in the mornings just at daylight kinda snorting/growling kinda like a lion in the zoo. The Maya Indians I worked with didn't have any great fear of them. Actually the Indians were far, far more afraid of a big white butterfly than anything else in the woods down there. I've seen my work crew actually run from the presence of these butterflies calling to me to run also :yikes:
