Co-worker who is helping her FIL go through some stuff, a lot of it shooting related brought me these.

Can't find much on the company. They appear to be a WW 2 textile company but not much info out there. This was one of five cases he had of these.
Should be good on patches for a while:yikes:
She also gave me about a half gallon of GI bore cleaner. Think this stuff is still any good?

That's the old-style bore cleaner made to neutralize the effects of corrosive priming compounds. It's definitely good stuff- - - -stinky but effective. I've got some Korean War era patches and bore cleaner stashed away that a friend in the Tennessee Air National Guard donated to me when they cleaned out a storage container at his unit.

Is it good for every day cleaning or just my mil-surp stuff?

Yes, it's a pretty effective all-purpose bore solvent. Use it like just about any other cleaner, a good scrubbing with a solvent-soaked bronze brush, wait a while, and run several patches through the bore on a tight-fitting jag. Those patches can be trimmed or cut into several pieces for smaller bore sizes.

Tom, don't you have a BP rifle? Would think they'd be good for patched bullets?

Nope...they are too loosely woven...tried them once and got a lot of burn throughs....need something like pillow ticking. They do make great char cloth if you're into making flint and steel fires...

Sadly,no. Pretty good excuse for getting one I'm thinking.:tooth:
Could you or Dan use some of these? Daughter is out here visiting and I could send her back with a care package.

Sorry Tom, thought you had a Hawkin........but if you wanna send a couple handfuls back we'll be happy to take them off your hands.....gives me a good excuse to get back out shooting.

Thanks for the info Scott......I remember current Mil patches being loose weave......always leaving that one thread from the edge sticking to something.

Chris has a good idea going there!
