Playing in the snow

Two separate mornings I have been able to go out with family and church family to do a little hunting.
My SIL was able to shoot his first PD ever. He made a nice head-shot as well.
Erik tried out a different AR and had some fun in the snow as well.
No shots on yotes, but we did see one but couldn't get in action fast enough to make a good shot.
I let the boys do all the shooting.

This morning I did some spot-n-stalk duck hunting with a young man from church.
I haven't hunted ducks in over 20 years and have not used a shotgun that much either.
Growing up in Kansas where upland game was abundant, I did much of my hunting with a shotgun.
I guess it is sort of like riding a bike. At least I didn't embarrass myself.
I did more walking today than I have since i have been down with the shingles.
I really enjoyed the morning. This is the total amount of ducks between the two of us.

Awesome! Looks like you had 2 great days Ernie.

You got it right when you said " I guess it is sort of like riding a bike. " The lessons you learned as a young fella with a shotgun stay with you forever........although it sometimes takes a couple of shots to get the 'muscle memory' back.

Birds look good too........What was their condition like?
Still enjoying the trip of a lifetime and making the best of what I have.....

Fantastic work, Ernie! I had no idea you grew up in Kansas. Awesome work on the waterfowl, especially, today!

He intentionally let hishair grow out really long mainly to irritate his sister.
You got a haircut today and it's a lot shorter now

Grew up just south of Wichita. Lots of quail, dove, and some pheasant in our area.
Duck hunted just west of Pratt.
Every November we would head to western Kansas, stay with family and pheasant hunt
Where we hunted today is about the only creek with running water in the area.
First time in my life I have ever used steel shot.

    Shotgun is a Benelli M1 Super 90 12 gauge (3" chamber) with a 26" barrel.
Totally reliable, lightweight, and I can hit with it.

A good day hunting is better than a good day working, and since I don't know, are you supposed to handle the Pdogs with your bare hands? Disease concerns?

    Very.
The creek is winding, so about every 100 yards or so we would hit one of the calm spots where they tend to be.
Back off, loop around and do it again.
    True jump shooting.

I used to be able to do that with ponds and sometime creeks when I was Teen in Wis. Lead shot was better for that.
