Holster question - opinions on CC holster for a woman

JayJay Posts: 4,629 Senior Member
I've been working with my girlfriend, trying to help her get ready for concealed carry. I've been taking her out and teaching her to shoot, she has passed the class and done everything. She's just waiting to get her permit. We got her a gun that she likes, a Smith and Wesson M&P compact in 9mm. She's shooting it quite well.

We've been shopping for a holster for her and looking at different options. Crossbreed was an option. But she found this place and likes this holster and she seems to be gravitating toward it.

I don't know anything about these people. Never heard of them and have never heard of this holster. Obviously, it looks very similar to a Crossbreed. And it's similarly priced. I kinda just thought Crossbreed is much more established and has a reputation. But she seems to be moving toward this holster, I think because she feels more connected to it as a female, since it's being marketed for females, I guess.....

Anybody have any thoughts on it? Any experience with this website or these holsters?

Just to provide some background info and general info -

She is about 5'9 and 110 pounds. Gotta do a little planning to conceal a gun on her. Not like it hasn't been done before, but this is something that plays a part in her concealed carry options. Also, she doesn't carry a purse.....so that's not an option.

A few years ago, maybe even on the previous forum version, I posted about this woman. Her and I dated years ago, then called it quits and lost touch with each other. A few years ago, she had a low life gang banger break into her house. She didn't have a gun, tried to grab her phone and lock herself in the bathroom. That didn't work and she ended up in the bathtub with 7 stab wounds in her torso.....

Fast foward to now; we're back to seeing each other. (getting along quite well, actually.....) She is a very strong woman. Must be, if she puts up with me....

In any case, she is very serious about learning to protect herself and I'm very serious about teaching her. I'm glad to have the opportunity to share this trip with her. Her dad died of cancer when we were dating years ago. Can't say that the emotions at that time didn't cause strain in our relationship back then. And being young and stupid didn't help, either. Maybe it'll work out this time. If not, I'll be happy to be the man who got her started down the path of being able to defend herself.

First I would like to say that I salute you for assisting your lady friend in learning to protecting herself.

While I dont know anything first hand about the holster my daughter borrowed one of their holsters from a co-worker and used it for a week. She liked it enough to order one of her own.

It seems it is cut a little differently than the CB so that it fits a womans curves better.

I wish her luck in her search for a holster that meets her needs.

I cannot not imagine that with that holster on a frame as in the link there would not be excessive printing without a cover garment over the t-shirt.

Just like everyone else, she's going to have to try a bunch before she finds the "perfect" holster. A holster a 5' 11", 200 pound guy finds comfortable probably isn't going to work out as well for her and she will probably end up with a couple of different holsters.

The wife has a Flashbang, a Sneaky Pete and a traditional OWB for her LC9, a couple of different rigs for her 1911, same for her Model 19....kind of like purses...she can't get by with just one...

If she likes it, get it. I'm sure it's fine. Can't make certain decisions for someone else, they got to do it themselves. If it comes to your and is sorry quality, send it back.
Concealed carry is for protection, open carry is for attention.

Thanks. Good to know your daughter liked it. That's encouraging.

Thanks. I'm certain she'll go through a few holsters, at least. Pretty much told her that. That's just a fact of life when it comes to carrying a gun....Works for me. Makes buying gifts for her a little easier in the future....

We do know the Flashbang holster is out of the running for her. Let's just say, she's not built for concealing anything in that particular area....:p

Chris and Gene, I'm sure yall are right. It did appear to be a decent looking holster and seems to be cut to fit a woman better.

I guess more than anything, my skeptical side kicked in. Turns out she talked to the lady who runs that site this afternoon. Seems pretty nice. By looking at her FB page, it appears she's at SHOT right now. Supposed to call back later to finish her order, since the website was having an issue earlier..... I guess we'll find out about this holster after all. I appreciate your comments and suggestions, folks. Keep 'em coming. And if she ends up following through and getting this holster, I'll try to remember to provide a range report later when she's had a chance to work with it.

Have her check out the vids on this channel. A lot of good female-centric info.

Thanks for the link, Eli. I passed it on to her. I think that'll keep her entertained for a while....

Just an FYI, my GF spoke to the lady at Princess with a Gun again. When she got on the website to order the holster, she was not able to check out, so she contacted them. The lady was at SHOT, so obviously busy. Called my GF back and appologized for the trouble with her order. She is sending the holster, free shipping and 20% off. Ended up getting the holster for like $30....

Can't beat that! Initial interaction seems to indicate good CS.....

Glad to be of service. Most of her holster vids are a little older, so you might have to go looking on her channel to find them, but her stuff is very informative.

That's awesome news. IMO, customer service is almost dead even with a quality product. In today's market you can find just about anything you want from multiple companies, great CS however, is sometimes a bit more difficult to find.

Quick update in case anyone is interested.

We still haven't got the holster. They said they were busy at the SHOT show when she placed the order, but they would get it right out. A little over a week later, contacted them because we hadn't got it. Said it should have shipped and didn't know why it didn't, but they'd get it right out. A week later, still nothing. Last week they said they'd get it to us by Friday or Saturday. It's Monday and it's not here. We're going to give it until tomorrow. If it's not here, will try to get our money back and move on.

I don't so much have a problem with the fact that it's been nearly 3 weeks since it was ordered. Yes, the shipping is free and they knocked 30% off the price. But it's the fact that they've now said they'd ship it 3 times and it's not here. Just tell me you're behind and it will be 3 weeks and I'm good. I really do hope the holster gets here soon. Would love to see how it fits and how she likes it....

Guess I spoke too soon. The holster got here late yesterday afternoon.

GF sent an email to the lady at Princess yesterday. The lady called her back and was very appologetic and told her she would send her a second holster or any item she wants from the website for free. A while after that conversation, the holster was delivered. GF let the lady know that it arrived, and she still insisted that my GF pick something from the website and they would send it to her free.

Hey, it's kinda hard to stay dissatisfied with CS like that. It was a bit frustrating, but the folks running that business seem to be good people and do what they can to take care of a customer.

Now we just need to make some time to start playing with the holster to see how she likes it. We didn't have time to do anything with it yesterday evening.
