In the article, they state the only way to stop the bleeding is to pack the wound with gauze....apparently they've never heard of Quick-Clot.
I keep Quick-Clot infused dressings in my blow out kit....they work well...

When I was in a semi-minor motorcycle accident last summer, my wife put some sort of quick clot stuff on my knees and legs. Not sure what brand-name it was, but it burned like....well you know what it burned like. It did stop the bleeding for the most part, but it burned for about three days. I won't be using that stuff in the near future, unless I'm in danger of bleeding to death.

I highly recommend testing your stuff on a small cut before relying too heavily on it.

I'm aware of the "burning" effect with quick clot....In my experience MOST bleeding no matter how bad it looks can be controlled with -/+ pressure....My blow out kit is intended for use with gunshot wounds, chain saw mishaps, etc....major trauma where I'm concerned about someone bleeding out NOW....not superficial wounds... Have used it in the past and the guy didn't complain...
