Snake, unless I'm reading it wrong you do know I was being facetious in the first sentence? It was meant to be a mocking response to those who mistakenly believe Ted is somehow hurting our side with his pro-gun views and that we need to be much more polite and 'vewy vewy' quiet when speaking to the libtard leftist masters. He is an entertainer with strong opinions and he entertains people with his stories, true or not. He has the ability to make his voice heard. and he does so. I'm guessing that he probably does as much good as harm, so it's a wash. I listen sparingly to what he says and I am mostly amused by it, but I don't bother to reflect very much on what value it has to preserving the second amendment, because I don't think that most of the folks that hang on his every word bother to vote, anyway.

    WHY ?

the liberscum never do, no mater what we say or do the libs will still scream their hate towards us patriots.

Nugent needs to engage brain before putting mouth in gear, or just shut the heck up.Nugent needs to engage brain before putting mouth in gear, or just shut the heck up.

personally i believe some folks here need to review the tactics of the gun hating, America hating, freedom hating bunch of liberscum, they will do whatever it takes to bring U.S. down !!

a note to those who say Nugent needs to "tone it down", please get a grip on reality...., Thank You !!

Breamfisher, what the heck is a "1-Y" classification?? Anyone here know?
I think 1Y was also used as designation for a "hardship" deferment as being a sole supporter of a family member.

Nope, it was a medical "only in a real national emergency can we call you up" deferment.

OK, I used to know what it was, but it's been 48 years since I had to deal with the draft.

I figured. Evidently 1-Y has been merged with 4-F.

Wrong, Ted, way way wrong. Vicious insults have no place in the debate. It makes conservatives seem like those subhumans themselves.

This is why I won't even use terms like "Obmammy" or similar slang to describe Obama. I want to defeat him on the facts and the principles, not stupid insults.

Nugent does not serve conservatives causes well with that sort of comment.

Not if you actually believe Obummer, Ovomit, Oblivit is a traitor. I'm hard-pressed to find that being respectful has accomplished anything. Let the politicians do that "respect" thing.

That is what I get when researching also that it has been changed to 4F. I drew number 123 in the 1971 draft lottery. I had registered in 1970 and was classified 1A. In 1972 I received a new draft card by mail with a new classification of 1Y with no explanation. It did have an information telephone number. When I called I was asked for my SSN and lottery number which was 123. I was informed that since my lottery number was over 100 I would not be drafted with the exception of a national emergency such as an invasion of the U.S. ! This had nothing to do with medical as I had not had an induction physical. It was just a precursor of Nixon's promised troop reduction in Viet Nam.

Hell, these days I'd dodge the draft too unless US soil was invaded.

We don't trust the government on constitutional rights but we're gonna trust them on who they deem as the enemy while they and their kin sip on brandy? ...never quite figured that one out myself until I served 8 years in the army.
I agree. I was RA in 1965, but you'd have to catch me and bring me back in chains before I would serve in our 100% bogus wars again. I wouldn't do a Ted Nugent, though.

Sam, do you honestly believe the left will be defeated with facts and principles? If so, good luck with that.

    Me, too.

I don't remember if it was '70 or '71 (I registered in '70 and claimed no deferment status) or what my classification was, just that it was pretty certain that I would not be drafted. I was talking to an Army recruiter at the time who had almost convinced me not to wait because I was certain to be drafted. I ended that 'negotiation' pretty quickly after receiving the letter.

I've just contacted the NRA and suggested removing Nugent from the board and preparing to distance the NRA from him and his public statements. Here's a link to the contact form, in case anyone else wants to say something to NRA about this. http://www.meetthenra.org/contact

It's a shame, too, because I agree with much of what Dodger Ted has to say about who Obama is and his background. Obama is a communist-trained and educated, pure socialist America-hater, as is his wife who hates the country that paid for her expensive education as well. The message just got lost when he put in the "subhuman mongrel" descriptor into the statement, making it sound like the NRA really is a bunch of backwoods, stereotypical redneck racists. There are things you can think, things you can say to your lifelong best friend, and then things you can say in public. Nugent clearly does not understand that they are different.

NRA has lacked a proper spokesman since Charlton Heston died. How about Tom Selleck? He's a gun guy and NRA member? Right or wrong many people listen to what actors have to say. Let's get one who will say the right things.

The allegations come from an interview in High Times.

Interviewer: How did you get out of the draft?

Ted Nugent: Ted was a young boy, appearing to be a hippie but quite opposite in fact, working hard and playing hard, playing rock and roll like a deviant. People would question my sanity, I played so much. So I got my notice to be in the draft. Do you think I was gonna lay down my guitar and go play army? Give me a break! I was busy doin' it to it. I had a career Jack. If I was walkin' around, hippying down, getting' loaded and pickin' my like your common curs, I'd say "Hey yeah, go in the army. Beats the poop out of scuffin' around in the gutters." But I wasn't a gutter dog. I was a hard workin', mother****in' rock and roll musician.

I got my physical notice 30 days prior to. Well, on that day I ceased cleansing my body. No more brushing my teeth, no more washing my hair, no baths, no soap, no water. Thirty days of debris build. I stopped shavin' and I was 18, had a little scraggly beard, really looked like a hippie. I had long hair, and it started gettin' kinky, matted up. Then two weeks before, I stopped eating any food with nutritional value. I just had chips, Pepsi, beer-stuff I never touched-buttered poop, little jars of Polish sausages, and I'd drink the syrup, I was this side of death, Then a week before, I stopped going to the bathroom. I did it in my pants. poop, piss the whole shot. My pants got crusted up.

See, I approached the whole thing like, Ted Nugent, cool hard-workin' dude, is gonna wreak havoc on these imbeciles in the armed forces. I'm gonna play their own game, and I'm gonna destroy 'em. Now my whole body is crusted in poop and piss. I was ill. And three or four days before, I started stayin' awake. I was close to death, but I was in control. I was extremely antidrug as I've always been, but I snorted some crystal methedrine. Talk about one wounded motherf*cker. A guy put up four lines, and it was for all four of us, but I didn't know and I'm vacuuming that poop right up. I was a walking, talking hunk of human
poop. I was six-foot-three of sin. So the guys took me down to the physical, and my nerves, my emotions were distraught. I was not a good person. I was wounded. But as painful and nauseous as it was — 'cause I was really into bein' clean and on the ball — I made gutter swine hippies look like football players. I was deviano.

So I went in, and those guys in uniform couldn't believe the smell. They were ridiculin' me and pushin' me around and I was cryin', but all the time I was laughin' to myself. When they stuck the needle in my arm for the blood test I passed out, and when I came to they were kicking me into the wall. Then they made everybody take off their pants, and I did, and this sergeant says, "Oh my God, put those back on! You f*cking swine you!" Then they had a urine test and I couldn't piss, But my poop was just like ooze, man, so I poop in the cup and put it on the counter. I had poop on my hand and my arm. The guy almost puked. I was so proud. I knew I had these chumps beat. The last thing I remember was wakin' up in the ear test booth and they were sweepin' up. So I went home and cleaned up.

They took a putty knife to me. I got the street rats out of my hair, ate some good steaks, beans, potatoes, cottage cheese, milk. A couple of days and I was ready to kick . And in the mail I got this big juicy 4-F. They'd call dead people before they’d call my . But you know the funny thing about it? I'd make an incredible army man. I'd be a colonel before you knew what hit you, and I'd have the baddest bunch of motherf*ckin' killers you'd ever seen in my platoon. But I just wasn't into it. I was too busy doin' my own thing, you know?

I got it from Snopes who reprinted the above interview and also went over his draft status. http://www.snopes.com/politics/military/nugent.asp

The nature of his 1-Y and 4-F classifications are unknown, and he now claims to have made up the High Times story for the interview.
Who knows? I'll say this, that I'm thankful I'm no longer the person I was when I was 18-22 years old. They put idiots like that in jail. I can't defend Ted for this if that was what happened or for whatever may have happened. But I'm very happy he turned out like he did.

I think this would be a very big mistake. Ted has influence like you and I can only dream of. He does make a big difference for our side.

Like the others, I agree with most of what Nugent says, but "subhuman mongrel"? He's on the Board. Generally speaking, Board members get fired for that kind of public statement. It is BAD for business.
The question isn't who is going to let me; it's who is going to stop me.

i :agree: !! being "NICE" to the liberscum is a futile endeavor, no mater what words we use to describe them and their master, they will still hate U.S. (us too !) ,"subhuman mongrel" describes him and his minions is an apt description.

It's explained in the Snopes link: Registrant available for military service, but qualified only in case of war or national emergency. Usually given to registrants with medical conditions that were limiting but not disabling (examples: high blood pressure, mild muscular or skeletal injuries or disorders, skin disorders, severe allergies, etc.). Class was discontinued in December, 1971 and its members were reclassified as 4-F.

Thank you for the information Bream.

Screw that! Ted Nugent can screech as loud as he wants and I'll applaud it. Who cares if he's obnoxious to some? He tells the truth and everyone on our side knows it. The object of his rant is a tyrannical traitor and a coward, and I would support harsher punishment than just impeachment. As a side note...back in 1969, I was hoping for a high lottery number too. I didn't get one and went in 1970.

Obnoxious to some? Did you see the interview he did, when he apparently got frustrated with the questions being asked, and blurted out "Suck on this" or words to that effect to a female reporter? Please tell me how you figure that did the NRA & gun owners any good. I agree with most of what Ted says, but he doesn't have to be vulgar and abusive. That's just my take.

I agree that statements like that are unnecessary, but I thought this clip was funny and I agree with it, and it's the only reason I posted it for its' entertainment value. Public spokespeople should probably refrain from that type of stuff.

That is certainly your right, however, why would you want to remove him soley based on things he allegedly did as a young man or by remarks he made. I don't always agree on Teds choice of verbal americanisms but I would much rather have someone on the board who is ardently passionate about their constitutional beliefs than someone who is meek and more concerned about political correctness and offending some leftist elitist who wants to strip away my 2A rights. I too made some bad decisions in my youth but I'm a wiser man for it.
