Fencing in the Feeders
Well every year a couple months after the season, the guy that leases the ranch I lease to hunt deer on who leases the same place for his cattle, opens the gate and lets his cows into our hunting area. His wife also hunts on the place and she already had her feeders fenced in so last weekend my Son In Law and I put fences around two feeders. We were going out to finish today but he got cornered by my daughter and she made him take her to a winery. He has the fence post driver but I'll borrow it tomorrow and take a friend out and drive posts around the other two feeders and fill them with corn. I want to keep em feeding all year, but cutting back on the timers so as to feed minimal during the off season. I have four feeders out now and I don't want his cows eating my corn or wrecking the feeders, like last year. A cow or something pushed one over and screwed up the timer. Anyway, hunting is turning into a year round activity.
Daddy, what's an enabler?

No fences. Isn't it slow elk season?
Well actually Craig, we have this Chronic shortage of Elk around here. I have only seen a couple and they were both in the Zoo, hahaha!
But seriously, well maybe just sort of seriously, the hogs and deer get through the fence, but cows can't fit. The only bad thing is I too have to navigate my big butt through that damn fence to fill the feeder. That's a pain I. T. A. Life was much simpler without the cows around.

All it takes is four T-posts and a little barbed wire.
Yep Teach, you're right on as usual. Cows make great steaks but lousy thinkers.:rotflmao:
And also, the cows can't make sharp turns.

Yeah, but I don't think those new breeds make as quite tasty steaks as the older generation models. Something to do with less body fat I think. The new models are probably..... health food?.... YUK!!!:cuss::yikes::vomit::jester:

I also drove in a couple of posts on another feeder that's on the edge of a mott of trees and I'm going to use one of the trees instead of a regular post. But it got dark on us so we didn't put the Barb Wire around that one yet. Maybe tomorrow.
We also filled the rest of the feeders and we'll go out this weekend and see if we can entice Porky to come to dinner.
Now I'll have four working feeders, just in time for spring when Wild Hogs come out in the day time.
