Granddaughter's first Birthday party (pic heavy)

Last sunday was youngest granddaughter's first birthday.
Her parents decided to have the party today.

My wife made the 3 cakes. A small Penguin (g'daughter's name is Penelope, they call her Penny and I (with wife's help) nicknamed her "Penguin") for her to destroy. (~ 6" tall)

She also made a larger penguin (~10" tall) and the half sheet cake "iceberg" for everyone else to eat.

Granddaughter wasn't sure what to make of it at first and tried petting it. (Hence the "bald spot" on the top of its head) then she got the idea is was FOOD)

She liked it :D

She then proceeded to play with it.

Until she tired of it.

The results?
Well, you know what they say about a picture being worth a thousand words

She apparently got her mother's artistic tendancies, hence her "finger painting" on the wall behind her chair.

(Her mom was giving her a shower when I took that last one)

edited to add: dammed photobucket, I rotated all these pics so they were oriented correctly in it before I started this post :cuss:

I'll bet it was entertaining. I bet the cleanup wasn't. :tooth:

    Laughed and said 'How sweet"

That translates to she laughed and was glad it was your house.

    Precious moments.

How did the cake taste grandpa?

I remember in FLA when our oldest daughter was a baby we would just take her and her metal framed high-chair out to carport and hose both off on hot summer days.

My Mrs. made them, so of course they were delicious.

    Sorry, missed this earlier.....
Clean up wasn't that bad, except for the wall. Her mom had the foresight to put a plastic, disposable, tablecloth under her high chair and put Penny in a bathing suit. That high chair was a yard sale special, bought and painted just for this party (I think)

Carefully roll up the "tablecloth" & shower Penny off. Since Penny's their third child, the walls are painted with an "easy clean" paint. So even the walls weren't that big of a deal.
