Yep... but it made 1 1/2 house payments on it's own.

Huh... I have a Hoyt Pro Medalist in my gunroom that I bought used way back in the day. It's in good shape... I wonder if it's worth anything?

Huh? You me there is something more out there than guns. What is this strange mindset you guys are talking about? :jester: Complete heresy I say!

Ex-wives. They have their own club with a facebook page and everything. I am not kidding.

As for guns I never really thought of myself as collecting them. I just like to hunt so of course I need guns.
I enjoy and appreciate fine examples of the gun maker's art as much as anyone you'll ever meet but they're still mostly tools to me.

Well, I *do* have a pair of earrings made from 9mm ammo. They're perfect for wearing to the range! :tooth:

I don't really collect anything beyond US service firearms, but I do seem to accumulate running shoes, watches, and camera lenses.

The only thing I accumulate that I don't need, is antique axes. I like to buy neat ones on eBay, fix em up, sharpen them, new haft, and use them. I give them away, too, to guys that help me with stuff, young guys that are starting out, need a good axe (not many of those around).
Different axes for different tasks, hatchets, boys axes, double bit, single bit, cruisers, heavies.

If you use an axe, or maul, there's NOTHING, out there today that cuts or splits like antique steel. Unless you pony up $200+ for a Gransfors Bruks.

Other than guns and a small knife accumulation, not much. In the past few years I've been focusing more on collecting experiences...food, drink (according to untappd I have tried 421 different beers in just over a year), concerts/events, travel, and now that I'm single, women! I'm also pretty good at collecting friends.

Someday I want to make a display like this..........

That reminds me...... I need to check the mothballs in the arrow boxes. Moth larvae love to eat feathers

English literature. Entire works of Sir Walter Scott, circa 1874. Entire works of Alfred, lord Tennyson. Samuel Pepys, etc. Old books and/or highly relevant (politically) books. Had four (4) exhibition grade Weatherby custom rifles at one
time, but had to sell three of them; broke my flashy, shallow heart.

I collect memories.................of both good times and bad.
Its a private collection, not open to the general public but, they are shared with those who were with me when I collected them. I have a section devoted entirely to hunting and fishing, another section which specialises in good times shared over wine and food.

There is a very special category of friends I have met, both in person and through electronic means. Highlight of that section is the events surrounding the SE at Jerry & Miss Mary's place and the hospitality and friendships I finally realized through person to person contact.

When I meet up with people I sometimes trade memories or share them and in turn they share theirs with me.

They don't take up much space..............a hat box full I guess. They don't need packing and shipping when I move house, some of them diminish with age .........but they are still regarded as priceless.

I guess I will continue collecting them as long as I am able................and when I die I will take them with me.

I used to collect ex girlfriends and wives.............but it was too expensive to house them.
Still enjoying the trip of a lifetime and making the best of what I have.....

Oh, I could. Then get flogged. And lose all my credibility, and the respect I've earned over the years.

Yep, for good or bad my professional battle ground is full of troops uniformed in silk ties, handmade suits (something I try to avoid since they run $2-5,000 and travel like hell), expensive watches and high-end shoes.
I'm sorry to hear that. The best thing to do with a necktie is to combine it with about 30 others and make a skirt out of them. That's the only way I'll wear one of the things - as far as I'm concerned, they're the mark of the male slave. No thanx...
