and me with the 410 held HOW? Jerry, knowing my rep, would not bet against me. :-) If I had to sling the 410, sure. But both of us, gun held at the ready? When it's for REAL, no ear protection? I"ll do it. and I bet Jerry wouldn't. :-)
Your reputation? Why don't you introduce yourself in the Clubhouse....
if the .44 is in a revolver, and the 410 is a reliable auto, i'll take the 410, all day long, cause you must get brain hits to stop charges, and I can achieve those at much greater range, much faster, with the 410 than even Jerry Miculek can do with a .44 revolver. :-)
You are telling us you can hit a charging/attacking bear with a .410 semi-auto shotgun (using slugs I presume) in the head for brain shots? And you would pick a .410 over a .44 caliber revolver and you could do it better than a world renowned revolver champion using a .44?

I finally read this post.
Frankly, it is not so.
While an auto loading shotgun can be shot incredibly fast, the time taken to make aimed shots on a charging bear head will extend the total time needed,
it is more complicated motor skills than just pulling your finger.
I'm beginning to think your are a kid that copies stuff off the web and re-posts it to bait us.

Oh great white hunter, have you ever seen a bear, much less a charging bear, you really think your good enough to hit a bear running at 30mph with his head bobbing around, do you have any idea how thick the skull is.
I think your letting your alligator mouth overload your hummingbird a**.

(Edited out) facts are facts. I don't need you, or anyone else. regardless of how easy or hard it is to hit the brain, you GOTTA, if you want to reliably stop charges, cause chest hits CAN'T do it, reliably. Deer run off with 12 ga slugs thru the chest, so why would you "think" slugs to the chest reliably stop a much larger, more aggressive critter, hmm? Because you're ignorant of the facts, that's why.

Semiauto .410 shotgun; Remington still makes the 1100 in .410, and there's the Saiga. I guess the Saiga would be superior, especially if you had a functional 50 round drum. With the drum magazine, you could pizz of the bear a lot more than with just the five shots from the Rem. 1100. A royally pizzed off grizzly would probably kill you faster than one only mildly annoyed. I guess.

Having lived in Alaska............90 miles from the nearest flush toilet..in very thick bear country......I would not even consider a .410 shotgun.......hell..I think those ptarmigan up there are to tough for a 410 to handle.....
"The term "Fuzzy Wuzzy" originated in the 1800s. British Soldiers gave the nickname, "fuzzy wuzzy" to the Hadendoa warriors that were a nomadic tribe along the Red Sea in Sudan. The Hadendoa were a formidable fighting force that gained the respect of the better trained British forces. The Hadendoa warriors wore their hair matted which gave a "fuzzy" appearance. The British were eventually victorious over the Fuzzy Wuzzies but with a greater fight than other enemies.
Rudyard Kippling wrote a poem in 1890, Fuzzy Wuzzy that praised the Hadendoa warriors for their fighting skills. "So 'ere's to you, Fuzzy-Wuzzy, at your 'ome in the Soudan; / You're a pore benighted 'eathen but a first-class fightin' man"
Today Fuzzy Wuzzy is known more as the nursery rhyme many of us learned as children."

Probably, unless the slug was copper washed, but I think you're confusing it with the .270... or the.327

Fuzzy Wuzzy

Fuzzy Wuzzy
Wasn't really fuzzy,

Hell, I guess the term would be not PC these days. It's even difficult to get a book of children's rhymes these days with the original wordings.
