Indeed it was. I've had mulies about 20 yards away without a clue and whitetails well within 7 yards, but never as close as they had those deer in the video.
The closest I have ever had a critter get without a clue was a momma coyote during my elk hunt with a buddy this past winter. The mom and her two pups were mousing in a field and got within about 75 yards. The wind was very light but still in our favor. I started mouse squeaking with my teeth and the mom coyote came charging in on a line immediately. She got about 1.5 yards away - I mean literally petting distance - and no clue what I was sitting in a field chair camoed up. She just stopped and stared at me, confused as could be, until she finally circled around behind me and my friend. Then she got a whiff high-tailed it out like these deer did here.
Accuracy: because white space between bullet holes drives me insane.
Sure it works...I've had deer and coyotes both get within touching distance while wearing a ghillie suit.
One evening right at dusk I had 5 or 6 coyotes file by in single file no more than 5 feet from me. I had on camo and was very still leaning against the trunk of a small tree, but I think it had more to do with the light or lack of it that they never let on they saw me, not a twitch. But also, best I can remember there was no wind, it was dead calm, so they didn't wind me, else they would have been in the next county before I could have blinked an eye.
Both deer and coyotes, and most game animals use a variety of senses for protection. Sight, Scent, Sound, all play into their staying out of harms way. And they're usually damn good at using them.

I have had deer come up darn near that close. Damn shame I was goose hunting at the time and deer weren't in season. He was a nice looking buck too. I ended out talking to him. I said, "Dude! Dude! DUDE!!! I am right here!" It took him a second for it to register then he finally high tailed it. Before that, he didn't have a care in the world.
It was pretty cool.

Playing the wind is grossly underestimated by some hunters..............or in the case above, grossly overestimated.
