Blooded the .327

Went for a ride out in the forest and came upon Mr. No Shoulders.

And no the .327 bullet did not bounce off.

And yes, I am going to eat it.

I know, but, you gotta use what you have.

I had been carrying a single six all summer when I went out there, shot up a brick of ammo plinking; so carry something else and need a .22.

By the way, it was Klingers brick
    oh well, hey.

I hit a snake with my 625 .45 ACP some years ago using 230 grain Hydro-Shoks, dang near blew him in two, just a sliver keeping his body from separating. He shouldn't have slithered out in front of me while I wuz out woods-walking.

What kind of snake was it?

I've told this story before on here, but can't resist doing it again. One night a friend took me out looking for Coyotes and scouting the deer heard before season opening. He was driving and I looked out in the field to our right and I saw something that looked like a tree limb about 20 yards out from the road. We went up aways then curiosity got us and we backed up. There he/she was, one of the biggest rattlers I had seen in many years. So he pulled the truck up where I had a decent shot with my scoped Remington 788 in .223 and he cautioned me not to hit it's body because he wanted to make a belt with the hide. Well, me in my infinite stupidity forgot about being so short a shot that when I had the cross hairs on its head it was going to shoot low, and it did! Hehehehe, Made a big ol' gaping hole in his body and ruined it for a belt.

That damn snake was a few inches over 6 feet long. Anyway, I apologized to him for screwing the snake up. But a few days later we went to their house and I ask him if he'd seen anymore snakes. He said he went back to the exact same place the next day and there was the snake I shot's buddy sunning himself on the side of the road. So my friend got his belt after all.

What made me want to tell this again, is what you said about only a sliver holding that snake together. That's about what this snake was like after a 52 grain Speer flat based hollow point hit it in the belly about two foot back of his head.

Right after I went into the wheelchair, THOTCB was out front hollering ..........snake, snake, snake. She came in and got my Ruger Bearcat and went back out. She shot 5 times and missed 6 times. By then, I had navigated out there to see what the commotion was about. She was holding her little dog under one arm and pointing the gun in the general directi8on of the snake, a one foot copperhead, coiled up and striking towards her. My fingers weren't working very well but I told her to give me the gun and I would aim it and she could pull the trigger. DRT. I told her that its a lot easier to hit what you shoot at if you keep your eyes open. She said, "how did you know"? Hell. she's a crack shot, on paper, lol

How many rounds did it take?
