Getting ready for hunting season (whitetail)

Ernie BishopErnie Bishop Posts: 8,609 Senior Member
I am going to be hunting whitetail (maybe a pig) this year with some different ammo than normal.
A couple of XP's (308 Win & 290 USA {Loading for this one myself}) and a revolver.

Whitetail rifle isn't until Nov 25 for me. I still haven't even put rifle number 2 together yet.

I stay ready for deer season, although I do have a little deer blind work to do here in the next couple of weeks. And my Son in law is going to build a couple of tree stands to bow hunt out of. I guess I'm going to have to surround my feeders with wire or something because the damn coons have wrecked two lately. Smart little devils, they unscrewed the cover off one of my Moultrie feeders Motor and timer. Ruined it. When I first saw it I thought maybe some PETA clowns were messing with my stuff.

Well, I am ready for the deer/hog Zombie Apocalypse now.

WOW! Ernie, if a deer sees that thing, you won't have to shoot it, that thing will scare it to death!!! Ha!Ha!Ha!Ha!
Seriously, at the ranges you shoot the deer will never know what hit it.
I have a couple rifles I could take hunting this morning. Well more than a couple. My 30-06, .270, .280, 9.3x62, and 8x57 stay pretty hunt ready most of the year. My two quarter bores only need to be shot at paper to insure they're still on.

I shoot most of my rifles throughout the year from time to time. This keeps them ready. If I haven't shot one in a few months It won't get first call on opening day, just precautionary on my part. Actually most anything in my safe is probably hunt ready all the time unless I dropped it and haven't had a chance to shoot it in again.

I got word through my many intelligence contacts that the Zombie Apocalypse could start with deer and possibly pigs somewhere in the eastern part of the US, hence the ZN-308:rotflmao:
I will be going dark soon to hopefully put a stop to this threat-Whitetails beware:guns:
I could not convince Hornady to use their Zombie Green tips with the 168 A-max, but I think it still might just work.
I have been told by sources who wish to remain anonymous, that there is not a better LR cartridge than the 308 Win (Especially for zombie whitetails and hogs):yikes:

And yes it is hideous looking, but I too love it.

Can I get one like it in .270 Win.? :rotflmao:
