Over? our centerfire season just started- - - - -it runs through the first week in January, with 3 does a day limit. 3 bucks allowed all season, but horns make lousy-tasting soup!

Nice kitty! Pretty much done ugh deer but may still take a doe for the mother inlaw, she's looking to fill her new freezer. I'm mainly looking for pigs and song dogs for the rest of the season.

We don't have pigs here (unless you call a javelina a pig) as most people do. But they are not an open season so you must put in for the draw.
Song dogs we have plenty of.

As a matter of fact I just saw one walking down the middle of my street like he owned the place.
Chased him with my truck till he made it to the brush on the edge of town.

Might have to do some calling in the morning...

    .
Well, here in Texas with the largest white tail population in the country, in my county we're only allowed two bucks all seasons combined. That means archery, regular rifle, and Muzzle Loading Seasons all together you can only have two bucks and two doe all across the board. Would be nice if we could have that limit in each of all three seasons. But no way. And to make things more difficult, only one of those two bucks can be minimum 13 inch inside the main beams spread. The other has to have at least one side unforked. AND, when putting your tag on you need to be careful and use the tag appropriate for the deer you have shot. For instance I shot a doe the other day and there are some of the tags on the license that say Spike OR anterless. You need to be sure if you are in a county like this one that you use the one that says antlerless only. Because on the outside chance I may get to go on a hunt outside this county that has other rules I want to use my tags the most efficient way in order to be sure I have plenty of tags. This crap gets complicated.

1 of the reasons I love the South Carolina Lowcountry- the nations longest deer season, 4 1/2 months- with no limit on private lands, a chance to shoot a buck in full velvet and more deer that you can shake a stick at.

I'm still deer hunting and have more than half a season left. I have until the first full weekend in Texas to get two bucks and if I don't I have two more weeks to do it with my muzzle loader. But the longer the season goes, the smarter and more wary the bucks get. In other words, the more difficult it gets to kill one.
