dogs were in the house.

Went much better.

pics to follow, after I drag her up out of the hole she went in, AFTER a cup of coffee

...........................................................................................

Ok, 535 ball, .018 patch over 70gr 2F with 4F in the pan and a french cannon flint in a Getz barn gun. 58yds ranged. She ran about 150yds in as downhill a direction as she could before piling up.

Not a huge doe, but not a dinky one either. 4 came out of the pines at about 0815 and they stopped when I pulled the hammer back. This was #2. #3 was larger but I didnt have a shot. I waited for a bit to see if they were going to do anything then decided that the good shot I had was better than a shot I might get.

Just a touch high but in the HVAC

I love how well those round balls treat the venison. Great job and glad to hear that the dogs weren't going for the assist today.

I wonder if you can package 2F for a seasoning?

    ....................

As long as you dont hit meat directly, there isnt the pressure wave like from a 06. If you hit meat it will bruise pretty badly. IMHO - Arrows kill by laceration, modern bullets kill by shock wave and energy transfer, and round balls kill by wound channel.

    ....................................

Yep. Somehow putting a greater then 1/2 inch hole through the air conditioning unit slowed this one down. I guess she wasn't wearing her body armor.

This one is the custom built. Its pretty quick. The Lyman GPR is almost as fast with 3F and the RMC vent as long as you never forget to pick your vent. The Getz will run without picking but I find it a bit faster if I pick. I figured I would try a video since it was nice out and I had to unload anyway. I did yank the trigger a bit though.

And yeah, I know that one is custom built. And I'm purposefully ignoring that. And I also have links saved, somewhere, for when I finally pull the trigger on one.
One... pbbbbt The first is just a gateway drug.

You need to make a pilgrimage to Dixons Gunmakers fair. So do I, once the Black Ops fund is restored. Enabling immersion.

    I could see a couple. A 50, or 54, and a .32.
But mother than that, I'm ignoring you and your crazy flint lock talk.

    You mean a 50 - 54 -32 - 28ga smooth rifle - 72 fowler???

Just FYI, when I had mine built I talked to the builder a lot. IF, no, WHEN you go with a swamped barrel, have the bbl inletted by someone who knows what he is doing or you will likely come up with a real nice piece of firewood. My next one will be a kit also. If the Creeks dont rise before I get to the Artisans show or Dixons, I will probably be coming home with a bag of parts.

    1. cpj.....I can put you in business right now with a compromised .40cal which will do everything you need it to do from squirrels to deer. You'll have to get up off your billfold, however, because it's an awesomely built piece by one of the very best contemporary builders.

    2. Don't buy ANY kit piece until you have checked out what Jim Chambers and his daughter, "Black Powder Barbie" have to offer. No kit gun will equal Jim's.

    3. If you ever need a stock inlet for a swamped barrel contact me. I can hook you up with the absolute best stock maker there is who is tops with swamped barrel inletting. And, as a side note, if you've ever had a flintlock with a swamped barrel and with double-set triggers, you'll never have anything else!
