    Historic, yes, but the "original" 1911 has a very small ejection port and this causes too many misfeeds. Instead, pick a pistol that at least has an enlarged "modern" ejection port..

    There goes that old false chestnut again, no misfeeds occur with a small ejection port, the enlarged ejection port was to prevent dinged cases on ejection.

    I will always love the stock parkerized pre series 70 - GI 1911 with the original sights maybe a flat mainspring housing.....

    My eyes are still sharp enough to see the tiny stock sights.....
