Got a new rifle, the Heym SR30 straightpuller
Got my new rifle today a Heym SR30 straightpuller, got a really good deal on it where I work (sport and hunting shop) since they are not continuing with Heym. Its chambered in 30-06, now I just need to wait until I get my permit and I can bring it home.
Anyone have any experience with Heym in general? Or with the rifle I just purchased?
Here are some pictures for you all:

Interesting looking rifle, is this the reason for your post regarding scopes? Have you made your choice yet on what scope?
I look forward to a range report..........

A wee bit out of my price range.............and probably yours........................But if I ever win lotto I might just get a catalogue.
Let me be the first to say, You Suck!
“When guns are outlawed, only patriots will have guns.”
they are produced at Gleichamberg / Thuringia, Germany..
Many of the Norwegian competitior rifle shooters often use a Sauer 201/202 with a Heym barrel.
Since the Heym barrels hav better quality and performance than the original sauer barrels..
Heym also use a bolt-action with no traditional "bolt lugs" on this rifle,
Instead, the cylindrical bolt slides into the receiver, and ball bearings engage divots to hold the bolt closed.
Weird system but it works like a charm,
It is actually tested at the German Proof House in Suhl to 8,000 BAR, which is a little over 112,000 PSI.
Unofficially, the SR30 has been tested by third-parties up to 10,700 BAR. In round numbers,
that's a little in excess of 155,000 PSI
Another cool feature in the bolt action is the three steps: 1: open, 2:then you can close the bolt, a round will be in the chamber ,but the gun is not "cocked", 3: if you now use a little bit force the bolt closes completely, and its now cocked and ready.
so basically its like a seccond safety, which can be turned of completely silent, when silence is key.
all in all, awesome weapon...
Haha, my english skills are not the best either, atleast when it comes to technical stuff around firearms and whatnot, but i try
it would be out of my price-range at about 5000 USD, but since my company wanted to get Heym out of the system,
i got it for a mindblowing 1100 usd
And Wizard 78, i would probably think i sucked also from a different point of view :P
And a range report will follow as soon as i find some optics for it
Yes this is why i need a new scope, i am thinking about Bushnells bone collector series,
but i might get a Nikon Monarch E 2,5-10x56 with M IL reticle #4 for about 500 usd at work, so might do that.
Does anyone know what a healthy kidney brings on the black market?

That sure is one fine looking rifle. The way the bolt operates sure looks interesting, have never seen anything like that before.
It's nice to have connections like that. I got a similar deal on a trade show demo CZ safari rifle when I worked at the local gun shop due to a good working relationship with the factory rep.
I've never seen that exact approach to bolt lugs before. The Colt-Sauer had "pop out" lugs, but you still had to rotate the bolt, and the Blazer uses their expanding collet, but ball bearings. . .that's a new one.
Regarding your earlier post on optics: A Leupold VX3 will absolutely get it done, but something like that deserves a Zeiss or Swarovski. You're already guilty of stealing the rifle - so why stop there?

Elk Creek haha its written skål (skaal) but nice try
CHIRO1989 lol, and here I thought Minnesota had 50% of the Norwegians living there in the early 1900's
In Norway you need to have a special permit for wolf, bear and lynx if it isn't a life or death situation... Yeah im looking at some diferent optics options
Welcome to the forum!
Pretty much the same in MN but no seals, we had a season for moose and wolves, maybe again, and we do have a few elk and we have pheasant also.
We use bats for the seals anyway.

Like this "when I kill seals, my preferred method is to beat them to death with my seal killing bat". It makes it a tad more believable. In your case maybe not.
Post of the month.

Yes Norwegian, I've heard of Heym. They are some of the best ever straight pull rifles. If I'm not wrong, I believe the reason Americans haven't been familiar with Heym is because they are in East Germany. And it was behind the "Iron Curtain" since WWII until the fence came down in the early 90s. Maybe i'm mistakened here but I know there are a lot of Germain products new to the West for this reason.
Son that's somebody with nothing to do with his time but keep me in trouble with mom.
Nikon makes some of my Favorite scopes and for less money. However i will say that I do love anything with the name Zeiss printed on it, whether it be the Conquest or the regular old Zeiss line. They are all visibly clearer. Actually, any of the German Optics RULE!
As for your cartridge choice, congrats! There's only one other American Chambering that in my opinion is in the ball park with the 30-06, but I won't bring it up for fear of being sent to my room by the thought police here,

For God's sake lighten up Francis. Only way I've heard of people killing seals was with clubs. Was kinda controversial. It's a joke son get it? You're just sounding desperate at this point.
