MSRP is $59. That's right, not $159. $59.

Surefire Pro Comp 7.62

They make a 5.56 version, too.

I had to go do a quick double take on my PBR, mine is not threaded :tissue: Did yours come that way or did you have it threaded? By the way I like it!

I hate those things on the range because they are detrimental to other shooters on the left and right of someone using one, but great if you are behind a rifle using one :tooth:

My AR wears a Pro Comp 556 and it is excellent. Well worth the $60.

I did about a year ago. The smitty I had do it said it was a pain. I guess FN steel is hard to machine.

Oh yea. Brutal for range neighbors. But I hate people at the range anyways...loose a couple rounds and miraculously the benches on either side of me become vacant.

I still shake my head when people cry about how loud guns are at a public range.

    Well...........duh!

I like Surefire brakes. But, they are some of the ugliest ones out there. I wish they made one without the cuts, angles, flutes, and what-not. Something that could contour and blend with a barrel.

    Alas, there are other options.

I'm with ya most of the time. But the PBR barrel is fluted. I think the brake will compliment the barrel fluting.

Not the decibel level so much which is also increased but the blast/pressure you feel in yer face if adjacent to someone using one. The shooter doesn't notice as it is not directed back to him, but others on either side sure do. It can be very distracting and throw off your aim......even on a .223 like SS3s who was shooting next to me at the recent FLA Shoot.

I think there are some on the market called Linear Brakes that are much less offensive to other shooters. It is a concern on crowded ranges.

So if you can't shoot your rifle without a brake, take up smaller caliber shootin or Portnoy's Complaint activity in your closet  :popcorn:

Yeah, I know Muzzle Brakes can be a PIA on a crowded Rifle Range. However our range is pretty wide and not that often that crowded. Usually on a busy afternoon there might be 3 or 4 shooters. So there's plenty of distance between shooters that a brake doesn't bother your shooting neighbor so bad.

Having said this, I will say that if I had the money right now I would have a brake on my .270, .280, my 30-06, my 7mm Remington Mag, and my 9.3 x 62 at a minimum. I have a PAST Recoil Shield but I love the brake on my .300 Weatherby more.

I know they are great for the one behind the gun allowing them much better control/accuracy/recovery that they wouldn't ordinarily be able to get from most calibers.

I have a screw on one fer one of my M-96s 6.5X55s (they are threaded fer wooden bullet adapter shredders or muzzle protective screw on caps) and it does cut down on felt recoil and makes it more pleasant to shoot even though it doesn't really need a brake. Looks kinda ridiculous when I put it on an already long rifle.

Others sure commented how loud it made it and about the pressure they feel from the blast.

Some guns would be almost un-shootable or a one or two shot range visit without one, I understand that too.

I know where you can buy 10 good brakes for $500. Just got mine the other day. They do the threads, caliber, and brake diameters of your choosing.

When did FN buy out Pabst Blue Ribbon(PBR)? :uhm: And why would you want to put a muzzle brake on it? :uhm:

Anyway, looks like a decent brake. I'm glad I have a lathe and mill; I can 'roll my own'.

Dang! I remember a lot of those old advertisements! :roll2:

I saw that PBR acronym and my brain immediately came up with Pabst Blue Ribbon. :roll2:

Remember Pabst Red White and Blue beer? (RWB) That acronym got reused by Reporters Without Borders (RWB). And after reading some of their swill, I think they were drinking some Red White and Blue tall boys!

If I had the money right now I would do that. I don't know why that .270 kicks so bad. I know it's on the light side but it weighs at least 7 pounds. Of course I don't notice one or two shots that I take at game, but on the bench it's well a bench beast. Actually I would love to put a pad on it like came on my 30-06 SPS. It's squishy soft.

I just think recoil sucks. Especially at a bench.
