Thought I'd share a few pics from an event on Saturday, in Austin Texas. Got to meet Larry Pratt, executive director of Gun Owners of America. He's a very nice, approachable, people person kind of guy.

Words of wisdom from Big Chief: Flush twice, it's a long way to the Mess Hall
I'd rather have my sister work in a whorehouse than own another Taurus!
They all do that, don't they. Hey, I once sent a contribution to the U.S. Olympic shooting team. They have never stopped sending me a seemingly endless supply of personal address stickers, so now I have a zillion of them. I won't throw them in the garbage without defacing them (ID theft and all that, and other schemes), which is time-consuming. At least the NRA stuff can go through the shredder without gumming up the works. And the NRA is very effective. It has had a powerful effect in Florida, for sure, as the CCW program has developed since 1987, when the Repubs took over the state. The NRA has clout in Congress, too. It has an extensive training program, and any NRA firearm training course completion cerificate will satisfy the Florida concealed carry licensing program training requirement.
I'm honored and proud to be a part of that NRA instructor program.
Pratt's fine and a personable guy, I'm sure. I respect all the SA organizations, but I find that I can only support one, the NRA. Don't forget, without money it would dry up and disappear. The NRA is getting things done, and it's a vital part of protecting our SA rights.

And it withdrew its backing of Reid in 2010. Reid had been one of those liberals who often supported pro-gun issues, even backing a major gun range in Nevada. The NRA drew the line when he voted for those two Obama anti-gun SCOTUS nominees who were judged by the NRA as enemies of the SA.
NRA, at times, misses political considerations, like it did with Charlie Crist in Florida's last senate election. Crist had a super pro-gun record as governor, but then started appointing liberal judges to the Florida Supreme Court. Sometimes, being mostly a one-issue organization (SA rights), it does need a nudge now and then. I don't know if Cox and Co. listened, but I did communicate with the NRA when it had no criticism of Crist, and gave Marco Rubio a lower (but acceptable) rating (with NO endorsements). In fact, Crist did have a proven pro-gun record as governor, Rubio's was respectable but less proven. Crist then ran as an Independent, Rubio the Repub. Rubio won.
Here's a link describing the 2010 situation when NRA did NOT endorse Reid.

Sadly enough blue slide, I have to agree with you. I feel Teach's pain because I'm afraid to answer my phone half the time. They're always wanting me to donate. And when I send in some bucks, then it's like they gave the blood hounds my scent because I get more calls. I tell em "Hey I just gave y'all some money last week. Then they say "Well that was for that program, but this is for this program" It's like wiping your butt on a wagon wheel, there ain't no end to the Poo!!!
But I do know that it's a dirty job but somebodies gotta do it. So if it ain't Wayne Lapierre it will be somebody else. And I do agree that the NRA is the one that does the most. I just get a little tired and I go into hideout mode.
Son that's somebody with nothing to do with his time but keep me in trouble with mom.
Get a second job, slacker!

Subject: Lone Star Liberty Tea Party
Hi Ray and Karen,
I am so glad you drove all the way from Houston to attend the Lone Star event. It was great to get acquainted with you. Congratulations for the very evident good results of your home schooling.
Thank you so much for your generous support of GOA. Your decision to buy four life memberships is very humbling. May God continue to bless your family and your business.
Larry
Four? Now that's a Texas portion. I'd better start on the want ads right away.
P.S. What's your assessment of Perry? A Tea Party Texan's view would be interesting and informative.
Seems the Hiway Patrol Organization calls me at least every two months. They must have a bad memory because the tell me the same thing everytime they call that they are just getting everybodies pledge for that year. How many years are there in 12 months?
Then they say "Can I put you down for a standard $100 donation? I tell em I'll give em $10. When I tell em $10 they almost slobber all over themselves. They must get that a lot. Anyway, the one thing that bothers me about this bunch is they have nothing to do with the actual Hiway Patrol. I also get calls from the Police and from the Sheriff's Patrol. My wife and I have all kinds of stickers on our cars, but they never stop us. Not long ago, I looked down and noticed that my inspection sticker had been expired for three months and it had slipped by me. How many LEO had I passed and nobody stopped me, LOL! But to be safe I did get the car inspected.
Son that's somebody with nothing to do with his time but keep me in trouble with mom.
Not to mention his 1988 Al Gore shenanigans.
But, compared to Romney and Cain, he's Reagan.
