You are absolutely the wrong guy to be preaching this message. You disappear every time your guys get busted and reappear as soon as the media has swept everything under the rug.
I would say that the major difference between the way the two parties handle controversial issues is that Democrats march in lockstep and repeat the talking points endlessly and verbatim, whereas Republicans at least usually have plenty of dissenters who want to debate the issue on its merits. You only have to look at the number of presidential candidates in each party to see this - at least most blind and deaf people can figure it out, eventually.
It's not about who punishes the wealthy the most - it's about socialism vs capitalism. Obama's sugar-daddies are for preserving their elitism, by controlling the wealth and using left-wing politicians as their 'apparatchik' to stuff it down the throats of the middle class. The Republicans are for creating new wealth that they are perfectly willing to allow to trickle down. There is no trickle-down with socialism. All of the wealth is controlled by the elitests and doled out to the masses, by the government. Socialism eliminates the middle class, entirely, which is exactly what is happening.
Republicans, with all of their faults, are capitalists. Democrats, for at least 30 years, have been socialists, despite all the denials and straw men that you put out there. How can you deny that crippling regulations are wrecking the small businesses that employ the middle class? When you can admit this, I might have some respect for your abilities as a political science 'expert.' Although, I'm sure you have been programmed to guffaw every time you hear "trickle-down," so you are probably no longer even reading this.
Leftists can portray themselves (politically) any way they want to because they don't have to actually produce anything. They simply have to find the faults with every capitalistic endeavor, and use them to negate the many positives to be found in them. They create nothing of their own because, then, leftists can also be criticized for the flaws in what they have done. The majority of folks think Obamacare is a monumental failure because it is screwing up the entire medical system. In reality, it has accomplished what was intended - to plunge us into a socialistic system that lowers expectations and makes people think they cannot survive without government.
Being really smart is cool, I guess. But, it's really funny how really smart people so often cannot see the simplest things that moderately intelligent people take for granted, like the fact that capitalism works. I guess it's because they keep their noses buried in the statistics that obscure the big truth with hundreds of little truths that don't really matter.
