Pay attention to your animals...even the stupid cat.

So I'm trying to fall asleep the other night and the woman was out with her friends for their weekly getogether. I notice the cat acting odd and staring towards the front door. The cat is dumb to begin with, but this was odd behavior. It seemed skiddish of the front door. Even when my girl comes home, he doesn't act this way so it put me off.
I snatched up the M&P9 with the Streamlight TLR and scooted out the back door and around the side of the house to the privacy fence. In my backyard I can approach completely undetected to the driveway it a huge shadow cast under trees from the street lights and I was able to observe a couple of kids out in the street, one had his bicycle in my front yard. I watched them for a bit and one of them got his bicycle after about 5 minutes and they left.
It turned out to be nothing malicious, but the dumb cat had wherewithal enough to know when the kids were in the yard as opposed to in the street. There are a lot of kids in the neighborhood and it has to hear them all the time. I had a chat with their parents the following day about them being out at midnight and in my yard. They are good folks and talked to them and they came over to my house and apologized to me for the intrusion.
But it just goes to show that your animals can be a damn good alert system. Even the annoying cat...I guess it can stay a while longer...

Yeah I guess cats are somewhat aware of their surroundings but not quite on par with a pissed off Pit Bull named Jesus and talking parrot that knows the dog's name, hehehehe!!!
According to the joke the burglar was well into the living room and he heard this voice, "Jesus is watching you!" but he kept doing his evil deed and the parrot said it again, Jesus is watching you!" But the burglar kept at piling loot in his bag, and finally one more time, Squak! Jesus is watching you and just as the Burglar was putting the last of his loot in his bag, Jesus Grabbed him by the throat with is vise grip jaws......!!!! WHAT THE !!!!!!!:yikes:....................:fan:....................:fiddle:

Son that's somebody with nothing to do with his time but keep me in trouble with mom.
My cats have been completely aware of any sounds or movement outside that's not normal. They've all been very good watchcats, and stiffen and go on alert status if there's anything unusual. And unlike dogs, they don't bark at a leaf for ten minutes, ha ha.
Our new little rescue cat, Cali the calico, is a very observant kitty, even though she's not even yet a teenager. The least bit of noise that's not everday and she runs to the windows to check it out, depending on where the noise came from.
Of course if we were not home and a burglar broke in, the cat would likely say "All right, there's a small stash of cash in the .... and a couple of nice guns here ..., Okay? But before you leave with the goods, could you please rub my head a bit and give me a treat? Thanks."
Sam, I too love my cats, yep plural, and I love em all. But do you ever wonder if your cat's favorite saying would be "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE FOR ME LATELY? Like in the last 5 minutes!
