Shipping guns

A long time customer called the other night and asked about shipping a rifle to a friend in another state, this is a private sale, does this have to go thru a FFL dealer. Since I gave up my FFL years ago ,I have not kept up with the rules and regulations. I know the post office will ship guns as long as there broken down.

Yeah, it has to go through FFL.
I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that I don't know the answer”

    yes.

you may want to find out if the receiving FFL holder will receive from a non FFL holder. If so, then your friend can send to the FFL direct and maybe save some $$. If not, he maybe out more $$ for a local FFL to receive and ship.

usually the uSPS won't ship guns from non FFL holders. he can check out prices for shipping on the web for most or all shippers. I found that UPS was the more economical.
