At least, Lindsey Graham said we need to hunt down the ISIS "Bastards" and kill them.

I'm watching it now. All are doing a pretty good job, no major fauxs pas. I think Trump not being the center of attention is not shining and so far, he's sounding a bit like the kid not called on in history class and resenting it. Not awful, but he's not got center stage. All in all, a pretty good field of people.

She did well, probably the best of the bunch last night. I thought Jindal had the line of the night, paraphrasing here, concerning The Donald: "He's not a conservative, he's not a liberal, he's not a republican, he's not a democrat...he's not even an independent...he is simply for and about himself."

Trump's comments linking vaccines and autism are... troubling.

"You take this little beautiful baby, and you pump— I mean, it looks just like it is meant for a horse, not for a child, and we had so many instances, people that work for me, just the other day, 2-years old, beautiful child went to have the vaccine and came back and a week later got a tremendous fever, got very, very sick, now is autistic."

Ain't that what Jenny McCarthy alleges?

Yeah... when you got someone believing that I really doubt they're as smart as they think they are. And his back-pedalling that he was trying to comment on how quickly they happen shows that if he can't express himself any better than that, he's still got issues.

I think vaccines are a good thing and have saved millions of lives and prevented countless others from being infected with diseases.

Then again the CDC says we shouldn't own guns for our own safety either. Some say it is the Mercury based solution it is mixed with as a filler or soluble agent that causes autism. One thing is for sure diagnosed cases have skyrocketed and many say their kids didn't develop autism until they were vaccinated.

Small doses spread out may be one solution to ease parents fears, I dunno. We had them growing up as did my kids, mandatory and they wouldn't have been allowed in schools/to travel overseas without them.

I think the jury is out on this. Maybe some other hereditary/environmental factors yet to be identified lay dormant until the vaccines cause the children to release some kinda enzyme causing autism. The vaccines don't cause autism of and by themselves and with the majority of kids are very safe.

Dr Carson agreed small does may be the answer. I dunno I think more research is needed to what causes autism and if vaccines really trigger it for some unknown reason.

I am not necessarily defending Trump's stance on this. Plenty of other otherwise intelligent people believe they cause health issues in children.

I don't think they should be stopped and they do much more good than harm everywhere in the world. Gotta be an answer a way to find out why some children (very small amount) seem to develop bad side effects from being vaccinated. A Marker of some kind that can be detected must be there, but they just haven't found it yet.

Millions of lives have been saved, especially in underdeveloped countries after they were vaccinated. Parents should not have the right to opt out if their choice endangers the health of other children in schools or the chance that diseases long since eradicated have a chance of coming back.

More autism cases are diagnosed now at least in part cause the have expanded the definition of autism. Kind of like ADD, ADHD ....

Yep. Even Autism Speaks, an autism advocacy group will accept that.
“Part of the change in prevalence over time is clearly associated with changes in diagnostic criteria,” says Michael Rosanoff, Autism Speaks’ director of public health research.

    https://www.autismspeaks.org/science/science-news/can-rise-autism-be-explained-broadened-diagnosis

And the fact that kids are diagnosed with autism after vaccines is probably because you can't test for autism until the kid's already had some vaccines. Correlation does not necessarily denote causation. Again, Autism Speaks is pretty clear on the issue of vaccines and autism.

Over the last two decades, extensive research has asked whether there is any link between childhood vaccinations and autism. The results of this research are clear: Vaccines do not cause autism. We urge that all children be fully vaccinated.

And some kids are just born slower than others, just a fact of life. Some kids have stupid parents and some smart parents have stupid kids.

But I reckon when both parents and kids are stupid, life is really hard!

There were a few moments that stood out for me. One was the slow pitch they threw Carly when asked about Trump's comments re. her "face". Her response was golden, but no doubt she was prepared for the question.

Another was Trump stepping on his male member when he took a cheap shot at Bush 43. Jeb's "He kept us safe" retort was great.

I also thought it was kind of stupid for Trump to argue with Dr. Carson about vaccines and autism. I'll defer to the good doctor's judgement on that one.

I'm actually a little underwhelmed by Dr. Carson's response about vaccines. Rand Paul's, too. There's no data indicating that we've got them too clumped together, so why did he need to say that maybe we should space them out a little more? I know that when my son's been vaccinated the most he's had at one time was 3, maybe 4. And that's rare. Usually it's only one shot. Further the vaccines use ethylmercury, which doesn't bioaccumulate and therefore is much less likely to cause mercury poisoning. With that being said, I don't know how much "spacing the shots out" would really do.

Just Donald Trump. Carson and Paul (both doctors) soft-pedaled on the issue.

As I said in post 12...

Vaccines may be linked to autism. He later claimed he's trying to advocate we space out the vaccines more, but even that isn't based on any real data.

    Full quote here:

Autism has become an epidemic... Because you take a baby in, and I've seen it, and I've seen it, and I had my children taken care of, over a long period of time, over a two or three year period of time, same exact amount, but you take this little beautiful baby, and you pump -- I mean, it looks just like it's meant for a horse, not for a child, and we've had so many instances, people that work for me, just the other day, two-years-old, two-and-a-half-years-old, a child, a beautiful child went to have the vaccine, and came back, and a week later got a tremendous fever, got very, very sick, now is autistic. ...I'm in favor of vaccines [but] do them over a longer period of time, same amount, but just in little sections. I think you're going to have -- I think you're going to see a big impact on autism.

The anti-vaxers are trumpeting an cheering this quote.

I could only take about 30 minutes of that mess. The candidates constantly talking over each other made it impossible to hear what either/any of them were saying. When that happens it reminds me of a bunch of turkeys gobbling at the same time; nothing but incoherent noise. I watched something else.

Didn't saw it with all the Chilean quake hassle here (Wife is Chilean and has family over there); if Trump said THAT, he's an idiot for either believing it, or just using that argument as a political tool to round up some conservative groups, which would put him at the same level of the "traditional politics" he's so critic about.

They were sweating so much because they were all on a scaffolding platform built especially for the debate by CNN (I heard on Fox) that put them up near the ceiling and about even with Ronnie's AF 1 windows and it was a hot afternoon there. Maybe not so smart an idy after all.

Good fer them all to sweat a little, builds character!

The winners were Fiorina, Rubio and Christie (yes, Christie). The only potential losers were Huckabee and Carson. The rest, including Trump, held their own. The real loser, taking by far the biggest hit was CNN, for the worst possible orchestration of a presidential debate. Even the presence of the brilliant Hugh Hewitt couldn't overcome an overloaded stage and the gotcha, fight-inciting questioning.

Will the polls change much? Actually, I think they will. I'm always right about these things, even though reality often gets it wrong.

Trump makes me want to heave. Not for what he says but how he acts. His facial expressions make me want to barf. Carly did better then I thought she would. good for her. Ben Carson did very well also. I will wait a few more months before I make any decisions.
