Fun In The Rain

It was the perfect day for duck hunting and we had the perfect set up. A lot of pissed off hunters around us, they were pouring in all morning. A nice hunt with the boy today. 5 Mallards, 2 Shovelers, 2 Green Winged Teal and a Gadwall.

Why were other hunters angry? You guys shooting too straight? Again, you must have a heck of an electric bill for all those freezers full of wild game, couple of very nice sized drakes there:applause:

I don't think there were but 2 other shots on the public marsh today. We had guys to our left, guys in front and two sets of guys set up to our right. We just had the perfect wind and the perfect hole, it was just one of those rare days when everything goes right. I guess, that 3:00 a.m. wake up call paid off after all! The boy is taking them back to college tonight and is going to grill them up for his room mates when he gets back. :guns:

Good Looking birds. Have only been duck hunting once and did not do real well. Glad it came together for you

Overall some very nice ducks there, although you can keep the shovelers. But the Mallards, Teal, and Gadwall are great birds. I remember once I killed a Gadwall that had to run 6 or 8 pounds. And you talk about a good eating duck. Lots of meat on those bones.

We have a lot of Gadwall and green wing teal down here. Mallards are more of an inland duck. We see some green heads but not too many around the bays. Pin Tails, widgeons, Gadwalls and Teal are the majority of puddle ducks around here. I like to fry duck like turkeys.

Note: I tried to smoke a duck once, but I had a hell of a time keeping the damn thing lit! Ok say goodnight Gracie

That's the best part about duck hunting: when the weather sucks for deer hunting, it's perfect for waterfowl. Great job and an awesome bag you guys scored!

You were where the ducks wanted to be. Watch ducks and geese on any given day and you will see certain places where their main bodies are set up. You happened to pick that spot.
