The short list is now an empty list

The list of guns we are "allowed" to own in CA has been shrinking for years. The list of guns added to our "roster" is usually short. Can't say I've ever seen it THIS short before.

The latest news on my end is that Colt has announced most of their previously grandfathered pistols will be falling off the CA list because they are making changes to their manufacturing process. Never mind that the guns will continue to be the same 1911's they've been producing for decades - Colt probably got some whiz-bang CNC mills that will allow them to make the gun better for less money, but to California, this qualifies it as a "new" pistol. :bang:

It wouldn't surprise me if Glocks fall off the list at some point. They are continuing to make the grandfathered Gen 3's exclusively, AFAIK, for California. Eventually, some bean counter will decide that running a separate set of molds and mills is cost-prohibitive. The good news is that those of us with Gen 1-3 pistols will be swimming in spare parts for a long time, but if you want a Gen 4, 42, 43 or any of the other new ones, your only options are to buy one secondhand off a cop, or move.

The state's requirement for loaded chamber indicators eliminates classic designs that consumers want for either pure nostalgia or for advantages inherent to those mechanisms. The requirement for magazine disconnects forces upon us a feature that many knowledgeable shooters not only do not want, but simply refuse to own. The industry is not going to bow to this for the sake of CA. Ruger tried it for a while, but then saw that going full **** made bad business sense - especially when our legislature seems to advance the meaning of "full ****" on an almost daily basis.

If it were only that easy. Besides, you'd get rid of LA and SF, but you'd still be stuck with Sacramento!

If you're not calling a moving van company, I have no sympathy. Get out. Seriously.
