Guns on Campus

On WSET, Channel 13 News in Lynchburg, Va., tonight, Nov.16,2011, it
was reported that Liberty University, ( the University started by the late
Jerry Falwell), will allow students to have concealed firearms, in their cars
on campus. Also professors will be allowed to carry concealed, with the
proper permits. The students will also have to have permits, to have guns
in their cars.

Slightly different than Virginia Tech, where it's still a free fire zone for any nutcase with a gun!

Concur. Some years back, I attended the graduation of a friend from Virginia Commonwealth University, and Falwell was the keynote speaker. I was very pleasantly surprised to discover that he was a reasonably conservative, rational, 'normal' guy, not just another nutcase TV preacher.

Agreed. The next logical step is to let them carry to class.

    Good for them.

Update: In The News & Advance, newspaper this morning, it is reported
that students with c.c.permits, can carry on campus , but not in buildings.
Visitors with c.c. permits must leave them in the car. Faculty & staff, with
permits can carry inside buildings. Alcohol citations, honor code violations,
and other infractions, will disqaulify a student. This goes into affect next month.

Sounds like the right time to open an auto glass shop next to campus :D ... better than nothing, but not far enough.

Excellent. Here in TX I can carry on a campus but not into a building.

Hopefully soon schools and politicians (and sheep) will begin to see the light about concealed carry on campus!

Liberty is a private university so I believe they can make what rules they want (within certain parameters). What strikes me funny is that it is a christian university and they are allowing CCW (to a point) for all legally licensed persons. I guess they understand the need of the good to be able to fend off the bad.
