I really, really hope I'm wrong...

With Trump's fairly convincing victory yesterday, bandwagoneers will be looking to make the leap and side with the lead horse.
I still don't see him being elected, but he appears increasingly able to win the nomination.

I don't see Bush, Kasich or Carson supporters moving to his camp as their preferred candidate drops out, and there are enough of them to push either/or both Cruz and Rubio past him.
I'll take him any day over any Democrat.

He will not win a general election. If he wins the primary, start practicing "President Hillary". If I am wrong and he does win the general (not likely), then the result will be about the same, maybe worse than a Hillary presidency.
This is a very strange election year, and we haven't done Super Tuesday, yet. At some point, conservatives will figure out that they have to pick a likely winner, between Cruz and Rubio. If one or the other breaks out before the primary season heads north, Trump can be knocked out. Of course, they may take each other out, and leave Trump a clear field to the nomination, but Cruz is very smart and Rubio is going to be seen as moving towards the establishment, so...who knows? Either will beat Hilary in a landslide, in my opinion, despite the propaganda about Cruz being a nasty guy. Folks who look at him under the microscope are not seeing that.
Nope, its a Perot style election year.

Probably, but there is always a chance that Trump's narcissism might prevent him from risking the loss of the same election, twice.
I know it makes sense that he would throw the election to the Dems, so he could be seen as a king-maker, and get all the perks in the world from the most corrupt administration, ever. But, we can't let ourselves be bluffed out of playing the best hand we've got.
That is literally what it will be, if Trump jumps to third party. The Dems will be attacking the Reps with the full force of George Soros et all's money and intel, and the Reps will be attacking Trump with all that hey have so far held back, and of course, Trump will be attacking the Republican with the same viciousness and hypocrisy he has already attacked Cruz with.
I only hope that knowing what Trump is doing would erode his support, as well as the Dem nominee - definitely a long shot.
I hope like hell it doesn't come to all that. As I've said and still stand by, Trump is not my favorite, but then again he's not the worst in my opinion. As Chief says, he's still better than either Demwitt. As for me, my choices run like this, #1) Cruz, #2) Rubio, and #3) Trump(Carson is still my favorite but he ain't got the chance of a snowball in hell). But for me, on General Election day, at risk of repetition, it will be ..... are you ready for it? Drum Roll /////////////Whoever gets the Republican Nomination Gets my VOTE PERIOD!!!

Exactly. However, we will have to wait and see after more drop out, because it seems that the less Repub competition ol' Donny has the nicer he seems to get. After a couple more primaries say like Super Tuesday, Trump may start to win more people over if he drops his attacks and stupid rants on his competition and starts to actually answer some technical questions, like "How the hell you propose to build this F ing wall and how do you propose to defeat ISIS" You know, just a few basic answers to a few basic Questions. People want to hear answers, it makes them feel warm and fuzzy and they like that.

Really? And Trump is running away with the Republican primary. Go Figure.
The American Electorate voted for Obama TWICE. You only have to sucker 51%, and 50% are by definition below average intelligence. Confidence in the wisdom of my countrymen? That ship has sailed.
I do admit to finding all this very interesting. By the time it's gotten down to knowing who the final choices will be, I've never voted FOR anyone in a Presidential election; having always pulled the lever for the lesser evil.
I think perhaps this time the entire election may come down to opposition votes. Will the middle be more scared of Hillary or Sanders leftist policies, or more turned off by Trump's bombast and lack of political acumen?
The "popcorn" emoticon doesn't really cut it here, as it implies "anticipation". Can we have one of a guy wearing a Kevlar helmet hunkered behind sandbags biting his fingernails? That'd be a better option for this particular "stay tuned".

I never thought I'd be saying this a year ago - or even half a year ago - but I can see Trump being elected. Around a third or so of the Republican primary voters clearly really like him. They sop up his bombast and believe that he can somehow restore American greatness through vague and unrealistic promises. A good chunk of GOP voters will just fall in line and vote for him against any Democrat in November, since most people vote on party lines anyways, despite the fact that Clinton (the likely Dem nominee) is actually more along the lines of a traditional Republican in some ways (mainly trade-related - Clinton is far less protectionist than Trump). If it is Trump vs Clinton and the email issue turns out to be quite serious... then Trump really could pull this off.
Now, that being said, the Democrats loath him and so do a good chunk of Republicans (and even more if he wins the nomination), so I fully expect Congress to restrain his more outlandish ideas. I wouldn't be surprised if he is a one-term president if he is elected. Then again, I suspect that whoever is elected will be a one-termer, given the weakness of all of these candidates. I know that people here aren't exactly Obama fans, but from a standpoint of simply being able to appeal to a large amount of voters, he outclasses any of 2016 candidates.
