  I have the Springfield LW Champion Operator and the STI Electra. Both are good guns but I like the Electra better but it is a little shorter in barrel length.

  Aren't the new aluminum framed guns using titanium inserts in the feed ramps to alleviate the terminal ware there common on the old ones?

  My thoughts are generally clear. My typing, not so much.

  Colt and Ruger will be your "REAL" Commanders with 4.25" barrels and normal 1911 disassembly. The rest usually require paperclips or other guide rod locking widgets.

  I had a Ruger Lightweight Commander for a while. The gun itself was flawless. I turned it go fairly quickly however, because of it's jumpiness even with fairly light target loads.

  Everyone has preferences on firearms but to bad you want a "lightweight" which limits you from having a wider choice in the Commander model.
  Para Ordnance makes a fantastic Commander size 1911 in Ion coated stainless, in their Elite series but it is all steel. An excellent handgun with many features offered on custom guns.
