...........to you all.

What are your plans for the long weekend?

I have charters booked for the next 4 days so it looks like a range trip is out of the question.
Still enjoying the trip of a lifetime and making the best of what I have.....

I got my hands on 11 boxes of .22mag ammo on Tuesday so I can finally dial in the .22mag pistol I've been tinkering with for a while. I had several partial boxes of different ammo before and now I have a good supply of one specific load. (40gr JSP) I hope to mess with that on Saturday and do some work on getting the garden ready also. Sunday is supposed to rain so we'll probably come home and lay around the house after church.

It's looking like rain for the next few days here. Which is O.K. as I'm not feeling too sporty. Had another round with the 'rock crusher' Monday to break up the big chunks in my left kidney and I'm sort of sore. If the collapsible 6-position AR stocks I ordered get here by Friday I'll build a lower for my nephew this weekend. And put that AR pistol lower together, too.

Think I'll bake a Kentucky Legends ham and either attempt to make homemade mac n cheese or just toss a couple frozen Stouffer's in the oven, oldest daughter will be here.

I also make a pretty good carrot cake, I use the mix (Duncan Hines Decadent) with the carrots and raisins in a pouch you add hot water to soak as you mix the other ingredients, then mix, bake and frost later with fluffy sour cream icing.

Neighbors like it real well when I take them some. Other than that no big plans.

Doing a ham and a turkey (gotta make room in the fridge). Just the four of us, so wife will be taking the leftovers to the pressure canner camp.

Thats the food plan, but the rest of the weekend is finish chicken coop, finish rock removal from the electric line a friend burried (pocono mountains...topsoil = ROCKS), and if all goes well, a jump to my dad's if he's out of the hospital.

We are a bunch of homebodies...the boring folk, if you will.

As far as food goes, I have a few big chunks of wild hog left. I'll throw one in the slow cooker with some taters, onions, and carrots, and make a no bake cheesecake. And a couple ears of sweet corn, and buttermilk biscuits.

Now that there is funny. We really like the Kentucky Legends ham and will be having 2 of them for the family coming over Saturday. I have no idea what the Boss will be serving with the hams. We always try to buy one when they go on sale. Leftovers will be for Navy bean soup or Chicken Cordon Bleu.

Just got a brand new offset smoker, and a big Boston Butt to check it out with- - - - -not sure if I'll smoke it for Easter, as Mary's got a ham ready to cook, but pretty soon- - - - - -!

This one's got cast iron grates and a much heavier-gauge sheet metal shell, so maybe it won't burn or rust out as quickly as the one I retired recently.

Rain forecast for the entire weekend. Mother, FIL and my daughter with her entire tribe for lunch. Menu will most likely be ham, field peas, creamed corn, stewed squash and ambrosia. Should be fun watching the grand kids have fun. Tuesday is supposed to be dry so #1 grandson and I will head for the range for him to shoot whatever he wants. Spring break is a good tie for us to "hang out" together.

Forecast is constantly changing here; we were supposed to have rain all weekend, but now it looks like partly sunny on Saturday, 61 degrees. I might smoke some St. Louis cut ribs if I don't have to fight the rain to keep my temperature right.
