Mossberg 930 SPX Opinions?

I'm helping a relative shop for a new HD shotgun. Wrist deterioration issues have rendered his old standby pump action less than ideal, so we're looking at semi autos.
This is going to be a sit-until-needed weapon, so, as cool as it is, a $1500 Benelli M4 is pretty hard to justify.
I'm somewhat familiar with the 1187 and its gas system. Not so much with the Mossberg semi autos and theirs, but I like what I've seen of their pumps.
Thoughts?

Looks like I get to play Captain Kirk on this one. I'll report back once I get my mitts on a display model. Hopefully, the shop will let me perform a minor tear-down.

For the price of the loaded 930, you could get the short barrel 14" M590 and still have money for accessories.

Thank you, but no.

I've been studying on the exploded view on Mossberg's website, but the detail is such to only be helpful if you have a gun in front of you, or already know your way around one. I'd be grateful. Thanks!

First impression- the gun is STOUT. Looks like they went with the slightly thicker barrel pattern of the military 590's. Parkerized also. I'm a sucker for Parkerizing.
The gas system got a few more spacers than I'd like, but it's a simple matter of just laying stuff out in the order you found it. No rocket science.
They stuck an oversize charging handle on it as standard. Nice touch.
For the bolt lockup and extractor arrangement, they basically copied the Remington 870, which is about as simple and bombproof as it gets.
They put a Picatinny rail on top of the receiver and then mounted LPA ghost ring sights on it. If you aren't familiar, these are extremely nice - probably about $150 worth of sights on this thing.
The trigger mechanism has a "cocked gun" indicator on it. There's a little stud that protrudes into the inside-front of the trigger guard when the hammer is cocked, making it easy to tell by feel if you remembered to chamber a round or not.
I really like that the unloading process is accomplished entirely with the bolt release. No reaching inside to fiddle with shell latches.
So, pretty slick. I'll do a write-up once I get a chance to heat it up.
