I'll never understand the banning thing. The guy was a bit snarky, not unlike some other people around here but didn't really see anything that deserved banning.
Several years ago at a SE Shoot, I was doing pretty well on clay targets with a pistol-grip 12 gauge with a cylinder bored 18" barrel. All it takes is a little practice.

A 3" high brass turkey shell loaded with 2 ounces of #5 shot is a real attention-getter with a pistol grip shotgun. It's a lot more controllable with a 2 3/4" 00 buck load!

I don't know anything about pistol grip shotguns but can't it be changed back to a full stock?
Also some good advice in this thread.
Yes, I have a Mossberg 500 that was refitted with a stock that also has a pistol grip on it that makes it looks like one of those original M-16's. With the stock and pistol grip the control is really good.
The shorty Mossberg uses the same receiver as their conventional guns, and there is a shoulder stock with a vertical handgrip available that makes more sense than a pistol grip alone. It's so tacticool that the scumbag will faint dead away at the mere sight of it, and go into cardiac arrest if you rack the action!

When I kept mine in my tent loaded with slugs for bears, I pulled the thick recoil pad off to reduce the LOP. In it's place I neatly duct taped two slices of card board. I read the NYPD shortened the butt-stocks on their short barrel Ithica 37s for clearing buildings. It worked fairly well.
My thoughts are generally clear. My typing, not so much.
Well he finally got his Glock ... a Glock 43. So he has a pistol grip Mossberg 500 and a Glock 43. Not bad guns but for someone who has never fired a gun and he expects he and his wife to be able to use them to defend their home ... not what he and his wife will practice a lot with. Oh yeah he bought good ammo, 10 boxes of slugs and 2 boxes of hollow points ... that is it.
I again warned him about that pistol grip and said Google videos to see what can happen and told him there are good aftermarket stocks that will be comfortable but he kinda shrugged it off saying they weren't goning to shoot much anyway. He might be the natural born shooter he thinks can "pit the ace at 500 yards" but I doubt it. His ego is just as big as most lefties and knows everything.
Gotta wonder if he'll ever even test them ...

It sounds like it's time to drop this guy like a bad habit- - - - -all he's going to accomplish is arming some scumbag the next time he has a break-in.

Makes ya wonder :uhm:
People watch too much tv.
For the first two seconds. If they don't hurt themselves, they'll catch on rather quickly.
Pain and experience are excellent tutors.

First gun I ever fired was a pistol grip maverick 12 gauge. I was 16. It was an eye opener to be sure. I was still hooked.
I would never recommend this to a beginner.

I fired mine with a three inch shell.
Once.

That would be a good way to bend the magazine tube and maybe jack up the action bar. But it looks SOOOOO tacticool!
