Well if you are gonna work in a Gun free Zone/have to.. like a GOVT Bldg.......Some are lucky enough to be armed as part of their job/can CCW, most are not.

So..........

It's actually done by the city of Houston, TX.

It's been integrated into the FEMA Active Shooter training, too. Along with the state of FL, and others. I took an Active Shooter online course the other day for work. Range report to come later. But the key thing is: run... hide... fight. THAT's the order of priority for them. And fight is a "only if you have no other option" thing.

Heck, they even tell that to our military....

That is exactly what is taught. Most everyone laughs and says yea, American Military running and hiding.................

Granted not much an unarmed person can do in a large room with an armed intruder, but jeez if everyone starts picking things up and throwing them at the intruder they are going to duck. Then you attack and turn his head into jelly on the floor with chairs, staplers, computer monitors, coffee cups anything left you didn't already pick up and throw at him.

Problem is, if you're in a big room with no cover close, if you run he will probably nail you. Survival in such a situation when you're unarmed is a crap shoot. If you can take cover do it. If you run when he's got a clear shot at you, you're probably toast anyway. The only half way sure thing is to be armed yourself. Otherwise nomatter what you do, you stand a great chance of dying. So be armed. You have a choice here, either break the law or avoid gun free zones. That's the only clear option I see here. Don't be a sheep and show up at the party unarmed. It's a death trap. If you are armed your chances of survival are up by about 75%. If not, you're at the gunman's mercy and so far experience shows he has little of that.

Around here up til now we always have Dem Sheriffs. The one before this one was a known Republican that ran as a Dem so he could get elected, and he did. Up til here lately if you wanted to run for a local office you had to run as a Dummycrap. Too many hard core Dummycraps in this county due to Alcoa being located here and it's strongly union. Lots of full blown Commies here thanks to that. The present Sheriff is a Democrat. But I think he's got enough balls to do what he needs to.

My son in law is running for Sheriff against him. He has the first decent chance a Republican has had that I've ever seen. Due to his Musical Background he's well known and very popular. So we shall see.

Texas has their video, FL has a mayor who says this:

So today I am calling on all the law abiding citizens of DeBary to purchase a firearm at one of our local gun shops, receive training on how to effectively use it, and apply for a concealed weapon license, as soon as possible.

Problem is, what do you do if you have to feed your family and have to work at a place that preaches this? Can't just up and chuck it, without losing livelyhood as well as healthcare etc.

I use that video (from the City of Houston PD, BTW) to illustrate to my people in our (more or less office) work environment what I expect if we were to actually have an active shooter situation.

In other words, yes, I actively endorse them getting the hell out or taking cover before engaging an aggressor. Is the first step of self defense not avoiding an situation altogether, and afterwards taking the path of least resistance? IMO, engaging the threat is a last resort. It's called self DEFENSE for a reason.

Fight it! The ONLY company I ever worked in that wanted to ban carrying concealed at work had the lawyer that was writing up the policy get a visit from me to discuss it. I calmly explained to him that if something EVER happened to me that could have been averted by me carrying my LEGAL concealed weapon that I was LEGALLY licensed to carry in the state were I work, that I had instructed my estate to spend EVERY DOLLAR I left behind suing the company for making me leave my legitimate method of self defense at home base on some capricious wish of some uninformed corporate puke. He had a long talk with the mothership soon afterwards and the thought of instituting this policy was swiftly dismissed...

Didn't you work for AT&T. They allowed CC?

We actually had a shooting some yrs back, banger came after his cuz on the the 8th floor. Winged him. Still no carry allowed.
