Proud of Trump?

Not exactly...but, I will admit that his press conference at Turnberry, Scotland was his best performance, to date, if he wants to reel in people like me. He was not overly boastful. He didn't say anything particularly nasty about those he disagreed with. He didn't take full credit for the 'Brexit' vote, although he did say that Obama's (and Hilary) pushy campaigning for the 'Remain' side may have helped turn the vote the other way - probably some small amount of truth in that.

He probably came across as an honest person to many in his audience, and he was respectful of them. I was impressed, for the most part, and I can honestly say this is the first time I've ever been able to say that.

Now, let's see if he can put two good performances together.

It's bringing up some, er, interesting responses.

One does need to know one's location and how those folks are going. Reminds me of the French guy in college (university to you, shush) who called me a "Yankee."

Next up: will Scotland remain in the UK?

Unless I missed something, Scotland is part of the UK. The UK as a whole voted to leave the EU so even though most Scots wanted to remain in, they are out and there are likely a lot of people he saw in and around his path and destination that are happy about getting out from under that mess.

It could work, but not like the EU is set up. The EU is a bunch of wishes set on paper with the majority of the nation states in the "take" mode. I would guess Germany will bug out soon.

    How frightfully uncouth, frogs eh.

If they be gone, best they be gone soon, please!

    But still provide whiskey right?

With the price of oil, that's all they have.

Some of the islands will stay with us, that can be nice stuff also.

I will be sipping an Oban 14 tonight. It will go well with a Montecristo 2.

I'm glad he's working hard to pull "swing votes". Those are the difference between winning and losing.

I'm glad that he landed on foreign soil and neither insulted our best ally, nor embarrassed me as an American, in the role of being a political 'representative' of the country. It's a good start, that could be built upon, if he can somehow continue to resist his natural impulse to always be the center of attention. It's all about appearing to be a person who wants to serve, rather than to be served.

The worst, by Obama, was returning the bust of Winston Churchill, in my opinion - an unmistakable slap in the face to a national hero, on both sides of the Atlantic.

I wonder if the Queen has a bust of someone like Eisenhower she could return the slap with. Sorry. I forgot Queen Elizabeth II has always possessed something known as 'class'.

    Points of Orders,

    House of Commons,

    Parliament.

Conservative MP Sir Roger Gale calls for Donald Trump campaign emails to be blocked on the House of Commons email system.

Sir Roger raises a point of order to complain that many MPs have been "bombarded with emails from Team Trump on the behalf of someone called Donald Trump".

While he is in "all in favour of free speech" he does not wish to be "subject to intemperate spam", adding that "efforts to have these deleted have failed".

Speaker John Bercow replies that while "this is not a matter for the chair" he agrees it is "not acceptable to be bombarded with emails of which the content is offensive".

    Building bridges, eh?

I bet when elected President Donald won't go to a golf course during national or social emergency like Oblivit! Later,
