As this guy replied

"They're built at the BAE Systems plant in York, PA. From there they carried down I-81 to I-77, and then I-95 towards the port of Savannah to be shipped overseas."

I used to see convoys of USA 18-wheelers loaded with tanks, APC's, and Humvees rolling down I-20.

My first thought: There is a war going on, and the 4th Armored Division lives and trains at Killeen.

I used to see A-10 Warthogs flying low over the East Texas Oil Field.

My first thought: There is an Air National Guard unit at Shreveport.

Now, one thing that did get my attention was when I lived between the Pantex Ordnance Plant and Amarillo Air Force Base, and formations of B-52s were flying off, one after the other, and the 'Duck and Cover' drills increased in regularity, at school - that was in October, 1962.

When I lived in Kansas, the level of activity at the Smoky Hill Bomb Range was a clue that something was going on in the world....when the B52s and B1s were stacked up to drop a bomb load, you could bet somebody was going to be in a world of hurt....

I was wondering if you could do me a favour.

Not gonna worry until I see them tooling around in my 'hood way out here in the sticks. :rotflmao:

Back when the last nuke plant I worked at started receiving fuel bundle shipments from South Carolina on flatbed tractor trailers someone saw them and called the local news agencies with a funny rumor. The person calling said that the nuke plant was having a missile system installed to protect the plant from air attack! :roll2:

The fuel bundles were shipped 2 to a container, the container was 14 feet long by about 3 feet diameter. and shipped 4 containers per truckload. It did vaguely resemble a missile transport container and had all kinds of cryptic stenciling all over it. The news media lapped it up and came running to see the missile shipments and try to find out where the launchers were located. They went away with some good BS stories from employees, and eventually the truth about what was in the containers (we let them see the containers being unloaded and the fuel bundles being inspected). Not a big deal as we were still under construction. They went away highly disappointed. :roll2: :tooth:
