Administration Backtracks on Recreational Shooting in Parks

The Obama administration said Wednesday it will not impose new restrictions on recreational shooting on public lands, a Thanksgiving gift for thousands of gun owners and hunters concerned about a draft plan to limit target shooting near residential areas.

The policy, proposed this summer, could have closed millions of acres of federal land to gun use, a prospect that caused alarm among gun owners, particularly in the West, where target shooting on public land is a longtime tradition. Hunting season for deer and other game begins around Thanksgiving in many states.

I would prefer just the progresso-libs and RINO's.

Nope- - - -include all of them! Tennessee politicians understand that we've got tall trees and short ropes- - - -it keeps the "good" ones in line, and the others running scared! Just because a pol panders to a particular group of voters doesn't mean he's really good- - - -he just prefers to cultivate working people's votes instead of the parasites on the other side! "Public service" is first and foremost self service, no matter how they choose to try to hide their greed. Npw if we can just get our fellow shooters to clean up the messes they make at these impromptu shooting ranges. May be fun to shoot up TVs, cars, washers, dryers, bottles, cans, etc, etc, etc...but if they keep this up, we WILL end up losing in the long run...

That is our biggest threat. Shooters are slobs and it drives me nuts. I have volunteered lots of time trying to keep what we do have open. Then again the same can be said for campers and off roaders.

Whatever happened to the "Leave nothing but footprints" concept that we oldtime Boy Scouts were taught? I truly believe I've always left a campsite, or a shooting range in better shape than I found it. It doesn't take much effort to pack out what what we brought in, plus a few extra items. I even pick up the brass that others leave, including the Blazer junk! It goes in the recycle bin with the Coke cans!

Some shooters are slobs, I for one am NOT !!!!
I also have spent time cleaning up after slobs, and do not shoot at stuff that is hard to clean up.

We are a little short on good tall trees here in NM Teach, but we got plenty of good strong short ropes... Maybe in NM we could tie them to a cactus, we got plenty of cactus, here and I will bet that a rattle snake will be along very shortly too!!!! On the other hand we do have a lot pecan trees here.

BACKTRACKS! Sounds like a negative connotation if my history revives itself correctly!

I think your choices of words is slightly in error.

I clearly remember the days when I could not purchase reloading components
due to the panic attack that enveloped American shooters when Obama was elected. Everybody hoarding primers in their closets and all the other knee-jerk reactions by the survivalists!

I'll say this though: The United States of Amercia is in a fast-fall to oblivion unless we put a straight-shooter in charge.

The forthcoming election, in my opinion, is going to be paramount to democracy in our country!

Ron Paul or Newt Grinrich are the best choice. The rest will be just politics as usual!

Not my choice of words, Fox News. However, what word would you use to describe Obama's reversal?
