A basketball player's cousin was shot in Chicago!
Last night on the news and most of the morning, the talking heads are going on and on about some basketball player's cousin being shot and killed in Chicago over the weekend. There was a huge manhunt and they already caught the guys. It turns out that they were both convicted felons that happened to be out on bond from their most recent crimes. The basketball player has been on the news talking about gun violence and the liberals are using this incident as proof that we need more gun control. ? Where in the course of this incident did anything occur that wasn't already against the law? It's unfortunate when anyone is killed or injured but why is a basketball players cousin more important than any of the other 74 people that have been killed or the 365 people that have been wounded in Chicago so far this month? There's been six people shot and killed in Chicago since yesterday! In just one day, the police already caught the suspects and I wonder if the Chicago police put that much effort into investigating all of the shootings that occur?

Of course it is! We have 30-40 at least every week get killed here, you don't expect us to get worked up about all of them do you? But a Basketball player's kin folk, oh that makes it worthwhile and news worthy. An all you Law Abiding Citizens need to give up your guns so we don't have to worry about getting shot when we break into yo house! Or try to rob you or beat you up to teach you a lesson.
Son that's somebody with nothing to do with his time but keep me in trouble with mom.
I'm sure her cousins fame had something to do with it being such a big story but the fact she was walking back from school after registering her kids with her newborn may have some impact too.

FWIW, I know Dwyane. Here is a picture of me with him and LeBron James from 2010,
He played for the Miami Heat for 13 years, and I have met him several times. He is a very solid guy. He returned to his hometown, Chicago, to try to make a difference, and was on a committee regarding gun violence the week prior. His cousin being shot was a tragic exclamation point.
If anything can come of this, maybe they will begin to address the criminal elements in Chicago and crack down on it.
