Re-discovered pointy, stabby, slashy thingy.

Just unboxed an old gift I received about 25 years ago from a family friend/business associate. He was a Green Beret (I don't know rank) about 30-40 years older than I. He had heard that I was accepted into the Coast Guard Academy, and shortly blew out my knee skiing and knew I was bummed that I couldn't serve (happened 5 years prior), and wanted me to have it, with a "thanks for trying".
He has since passed, but lots of good memories of the carp we used to do in the day. One year, the joke was a deer leg. The game was to sneak it into some ones car, box as a gift, whatever (it was near Christmas time). It was finally found when he was pulled over (knowing the police chief made that easy), and opened his glove box and the forcibly bent knee joint sprung out!. He was stunned...police chief fell to the ground laughing...thought we were pulling his leg...pardon the pun.

Overall length, 12". Blade length, 7". KA-BAR on one side, USMC on the other side of the blade. Both on the sheath, with the Marine's emblem. Sorry the pic is cruddy.

My late father would have loved the deer leg joke - he once threw a frozen deer into his foreman's house in the middle of winter!

Once, he went on a week long vaca. He left his brand new Mercedes behind at his house. Somehow, a rabbit, 20 pounds of food and a 10 gallon waterer got inside it.
I've been saying for years (as my dad's secretary used to say) I'd write a book, but NO ONE would believe it's not fiction. And, not just this one guy...how I made it past 25 is beyond me. How so many of us are still alive, only passing from natural causes amazes me.
I got to start writing these down...problem is dates are not remembered...statutes of limitation may be involved... :jester:

Knight, I forget if he was in Korea or Viet Nam, but, yes, I was told there are stories about it.

Zorba, that leg was previously wrapped in tissue paper and placed in a Victoria Secret box for the office Christmas party. The young lady opened it and was dazzled to see fur, thinking a stole...ooops, wrong thought. Table over turned, guy getting beat with a deer leg as we all laughed (we signed his name to the card! He had no clue what happened!). It had been a few other places as well. When spring time came, it started to get nasty...both the leg and the pranks. Ahhhh, the gold old days.

Sounds like the traveling fish we put in people's lockers in high school. It was only a couple days before that got really nasty

The boys are going to fight over that knife.
