Which one should I get.

Going tomorrow morning to get my daughter a LCRX 38 for her 21st birthday present. Torn between the LCR and the X. I like the option of single action and she has shot our 642, sp101, shield 9, glocks and many of the 22 caliber pistols we have. She wants a revolver. So, is my preference of a SA/DA taking over or should I just go With LCR. Can't really ask her since it's a surprise. She likes to shoot all of them but this will be her self defense gun. Heard the Ruger trigger is sweet, haven't actually shot one yet.

Get her what she is comfortable with. I'd go with the standard LCR, just a bit more simple. Of course you could go fully awesome and get her the 44 special GP100!
Aim higher, or get a bigger gun.

As a pure self defense revolver, the LCR would be (and for that matter, is) my choice. For the purpose for which it's intended, the exposed hammer is superfluous IMHO....
