Absolutly embarrassed to be Canadian today.........
A government source has confirmed to CBC News that Ottawa will apologize and pay millions of dollars in compensation to former Guantanamo Bay prisoner Omar Khadr.
Khadr — who confessed to killing a U.S. army medic when he was 15, under interrogation that was later deemed "oppressive" — will receive a settlement of $10.5 million, the source, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed to CBC late Tuesday.

I love my country...I always have. Things like I just posted make me want to leave it behind.

He was...and the American unit that he attacked actually cared for him and saved his life. Whole thing is just sad and disgusting..am actually at a loss for words from anger over what my country has done.

Don't be embarrassed to be Canadian--ever. Be mad at your government. Eight years of Obama never made me embarrassed to be American. Don't let them steal the national pride. Keep that to your dying breath.
That's what happens when you elect a socialist (commie) to be in charge. I'm sure more outrageous things will happen to piss Canadians off.

Son that's somebody with nothing to do with his time but keep me in trouble with mom.
Wow! Not only very old news but grossly exaggerated distance. Are they again (as they reported the new record was 2+ miles) confusing miles with kilometers? 1.5 miles would be 2.4 kilometers. The report I heard was only a few days ago (June 29). I wish I could recall which network it was so I don't make the mistake of watching them again. I usually watch a local news channel which was not available due to stupid soccer. I would have been watching ABC, NBC, or CBS.
British Super Sniper Craig Harrison has uprooted the Canadians for the longest sniper shot on record, 1.54 miles!
Not only did he beat the record by 150 ft., but took two shots that each killed a Taliban machine gunner. At 8,120 ft., which is 3,200 ft. further than the range of his Accuracy International L115A3, conditions had to be perfect. The .338 Lapua round again proves it’s worth in the battlefield.
The shots were taken in November of last year, when Harrison’s Household Calvary unit came under fire in Helmand, but the details surrounding the shots have only just been released. This article from dailymail.co.uk has some interesting details, and some good first hand information of the November events from Harrison.
The super sniper: Hero picks off two Taliban from a mile and a half away

An army sniper has earned a place in military history by killing two Taliban machine gunners from more than a mile and a half away.
Craig Harrison's record breaking shots felled the insurgents with consecutive bullets - even though they were 3,200ft beyond the official range of his rifle.
The Household Cavalry veteran's kills from a distance of 8,120ft beat the previous record by 150ft.
He was using the British-built L115A3 Long Range Rifle, the Army's most powerful sniper weapon.
He was so far away that the 8.59mm-calibre bullets took almost three seconds to reach their target. Scores of Taliban gunmen have fallen to the gun which has been nicknamed The Silent Assassin.
It is only designed to be effective at up to 4,921ft - just less than a mile - and capable of only ' harassing fire' beyond that range.
But Corporal Harrison took his record-breaking shots after his commander and Afghan soldiers were attacked during a patrol in Helmand in November last year.
His vehicle was further back on a ridge, with his sights trained on a Taliban compound. He said: 'We saw two insurgents running through its courtyard. They came forward carrying a machine gun and opened fire on the commander's wagon.
'Conditions were perfect, no wind, mild weather, clear visibility.
'The first round hit a machine gunner in the stomach. He went straight down and didn't move. The second insurgent grabbed the weapon and my second shot hit him in the side.'
The previous sniper record, 7,972ft, was held by a Canadian soldier.
Corporal Harrison, a married father-of-one from Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, killed 12 more rebels and wounded seven others. During an extraordinary six-month tour of duty he also survived a bullet that went though his helmet and a roadside bomb.
The blast broke both his arms but he was eventually able to return to duty, his accuracy unaffected.
