Or at least I developed one.

How some folks waste a vacation day



Pup had a good time though. Not as bad as yesterday. She was so mud covered the only thing that was black was her eyes.

    All creatures great and small. Plus the area below the seep is mud 24/7/365. We have been dry and hot for 2 weeks so I could get in there. After it starts working the ground should dry some making it passable. Once I can get through, I would like to put in a pond.

    Elvira is a tired pup tonight. She got a shower and while not deep down clean, she is passable.

    FIFY ... my two idiots can find the dirtiest muckiest water in the area right after I have rinsed them of with clean fresh water and for some reason I keep on rinsing them off like they are going to stop :bang:

    Mahindra 3510. Its the redranded TYM that Mahindra sold. So far its been a workhorse. 35hp(eng, about 20pto) 12 gears with shuttle shift. When I first got it When I let out the clutch I could be going in any direction at any speed. Now it is second nature. When I got it, for the money it was a lot more tractor than I could get in Greene or Orange. Only regret is I should have gotten AG tires. Traded a 2wd Deere 850 on it. Should have kept the 850 and put a mower deck under it and had the second tractor for what I got for it. I have seen that same 850 for sale 3 times for 3 times what I paid for it the first time.

    I dug the ditch with a rebadged Yanmar/Deere 950 with a full frame hoe.

    A spring fed pond would be nice. :up: Put some fish in it for a fresh fish dinner, from time to time. And a swimmin' hole for the Lab! :roll2:

    Labs and most other water dogs love muddy water, mud, and rolling in dirt. I had an English Setter that seemed to think that rolling in fresh cow pies gave him that special smell that would make the 'ladies' flock to him. Give him a bath and he'd be good for a day or two, and then it was out to the pasture to find the biggest juiciest pile of cow crap to roll in, and then go to the creek and roll in some mud.

    Regarding the tractor, I'm seeing a LOT of Mahindra tractors showing up from the size you have to the much bigger 4WD ones. They seem to be pretty good tractors, too. Big Green, Red, and Blue are a lot higher priced for basically the same HP without the nice things like that shuttle shift and other things on the lower priced Mahindra.

    Its 4wd. Pretty comparable with this unit https://mahindrausa.com/tractors/1500-series/1533-hst. I have had mine for about 12-13 years. Some of the sheet metal is rusted, nothing major. I didnt have a covered place for it for 5 years so that is as much my fault as the metal. It is a animal for its size. Comparable green and orange, $$ or size would have a hard time keeping up with it for what I use it for. It was basically a excavator turned log skidder.

    Nothing in the stock tank yet, but 4+ inches in the collector barrel. It should be filling by tommorow night if the weather stays as is. I figure about 2" per day with zero rain and I made more volume than I wanted at the collector so thats a fair amount of water. Should be enough to keep the tank full to the outlet unless the deer are reallty thirsty.

    I have flow now.


    Slight engineering error. Once full, the tank compacted the dry/now wet dirt tilting it so as to let water flow over the top. I figured my outlet was a little long anyway. I pulled the pipe and hacked off a inch and a half. That should keep the water about a inch from overflowing the tank even in its non level state. I should have put a limb under it pre backfill across the trench, that way when we got rain the dirt would compact and I could have refilled once it was dry. Live and learn. I got a 1/4 in in the low side in the time it took me to get the pipe seated and take a pic of the dogs in the mud so it should be full or close to running out the O flow now.

    Looks good! That should work out well for your intended purposes.

    GSD is what he was billed as, by the girls who brought him home. Husky/border collie at best guess. There isnt a GSD on this planet that carries the fur he does. The mud was cool and it was 85% humidity today, he was dying. He is much happier inside in the AC right now. The Blab, well, she is a Lab.

    Head shape and ears says that there's a heavy dose of GSD in that pup. :tooth: I bet that one and the Blab enjoyed the wet cool ground, though.

    Suggests....... You would have to meet him. I had a breeder at the house for a totally different reason and she came down on the side of husky/collie with me. He runs like a boarder collie and howls like a husky if he is sleeping in the yard or on the porch in 20F and doesnt want to come in. Really reverberates down the valley at 10PM in the winter when there are no leaves on the trees. :yikes:

    Either way, he is a blend.
