What bug do you hate most?

ZeeZee Senior MemberPosts: 20,132 Senior Member
For me.........it's the mosquito hands down.

Too so small to eat. They are the bane of my outdoor experience.

I detest wearing bug spray, so hate when the skeeters are so bad as to mandate it's donning.

The ThremaCell works at times, but not when mobile or when it's windy.

Absolutely HATE, HATE, HATE MOSQUITOES!!!!

So, what bug drives to to that unhappy place of hate and discontent?

Fire ants. I wear boots when I work but wear flip flops the rest of the time and it's been years since I didn't have a few fire ant bites on my feet. They are everywhere.

When I was little, it was chiggers. Every time we went to my granddad's farm, I would get them so back I'd scratch myself to sleep every night. They don't bother near as much now.

I've never been a big fan of mosquitos, either.

Skeeters are probably most detested. Although ticks and chiggers are very high on the list.

Cockroaches!! Because they invade my space!! All the outside bugs are just doing what they do 'cause we are in their space! But skeeter's, ticks and chiggers on high on that list!

Same here. Little buggers will find you and bite, nothing keeps them away

In order, that would be chiggers, ticks, and mosquitoes. Chiggers go for the 'tender bits' that make scratching problematic, ticks carry Lyme disease, and mosquitoes make movement in the deer stand mandatory.

Might as well throw in yellow jackets that build nests in the ground or hollow trees and stumps with a hole at ground level. You're walking along minding your own business, and then, all of a sudden............ :silly::silly::silly::silly: Thank the powers that be for gasoline and homemade firecrackers, and engine starting fluid.

Mosquitos are the worst. They are terrible around here pretty much all summer. They even manage to get in my house and snack on me in my sleep!

That said when I lived in Florida fire ants were the bane of my existence.

    Ticks

Skeeters are more often a issue; but, ticks win.

Chiggers, hands-down. No insect has made me more miserable for longer.

Mosquitoes, hands down. Especially when bear hunting, because as Zee mentioned, they often necessitate bug spray, and bears can smell it.

Bed bugs are an occupational hazard, and I hate those things! Never had them, but stripping down to the old boxers and bagging your clothes on the street kinda sucks.

    Ticks.

You cant kill them by swatting them. If you kill them after they dig in, they can give you nasty sickness of all different types. If you crush them after they are engorged, they pop a converted blood explosion that makes the gorge rise.

Skeeters suck, but at least they die if you swat them.

Mosquitos are a nuisance but I hardly ever get bit even when they are out in clouds. There are these NASTY flies around here that bite and draw blood. They are only around for a few weeks out of the year but DAMN I HATE THEM!!! When I was up north I REALLY hated Horse Flies (so the ones down here must be their smallish cousins) mostly because my horse hated them and his rear end would go up in the air without warning anytime one landed on his rump. He never threw me but it was tiresome in the summer to get these surprise bucks...

Yep, greenheads. The little bastages are equipped with a barbed hole boring machine made by Husqvarna.

Sand fleas rank up there also. Little bitty bug with great big teeth.

The worst for me is " no-see-ums " some people call them sand fleas or flys, skeeters never bothered me much, since i once tested positive for Lyme's, I'm super careful about ticks.

I hate Mosquitoes, Ticks, Chiggers and flys, but I really hate German Cock Roaches. Once you get an infestation they are hell to get rid of. When my mother died some of her furnature was in storage and then put in my house. They had roaches on board. Now I'm still fighting them. I hate them with a passion!!!

A long time ago in what could almost be desribed as a different life, I lived in a transient motel in Detroit. For many years after leaving that place, and that life behind, movement in my peripheral would startle me into looking for the cockroach.
My thoughts are generally clear. My typing, not so much.

Ticks and chiggers are annoying. But, they only get me when I'm in the woods. Skeeters are THICK at my house, and I've yet to figure out why. Can't go in the garage with the door open without bug repellent.

I have the exact same thoughts as Zee. HATE mosquitoes with a passion, for the exact same reasons as Zee mentioned. I hate wearing repellant. The "fufu" smelling stuff doesn't work, and the stuff that does work stinks horribly. I'll wear pants and long sleeves so I can spray the clothes and not my skin so I can take it off later.

The only thing I like about a mosquito being on me is the nearly disturbing pleasure I get from killing every one of them. A bug zapper happily destroying them by the hundreds at night is a beautiful thing in my world...

Spiders. I never gave them a second thought until I was bitten by a brown recluse a couple years ago. They are seriously bad news. Like 3 trips to the ER bad news. Everything thing else is just minor irritation.

Fleas I hate most. Mosquitos second. Chiggers? For some reason, they don't bother me. When I was at Ft. Benning and rolling around in pinewoods and kudzu, I can't remember ever having a chigger.

Home pests I hate are Palmetto cockroaches. They are big, nasty, and can fly if they have to. When I had a dog, fleas were almost impossible to get rid of.

If they worked, I'd have a dozen hooked up. I am a mosquito attracter. If there are five people and me standing side by side, I am the one getting bit
