They're not longer assautl weapons...

they're "Weapons of war". Interesting how the anti-gun crowed has coined a new term for the same old crap. I guess "weapons of war" sounds scarier.

    I suppose. . .

I think the term makes OUR case easier given the true purpose and scope of the 2A was to put The People on an even footing with a standing army. "Assault weapon" is a lot more ambiguous, IMO. My response to "weapons of war" is "Yep. You have them; we have them. What's your point?"

Weapons of War? Not sure but if a list could be made of what firearms have taken what numbers of lives in war I’d bet the AR would not make the top 20 of the list. I’d guess like Dan’s pic ... Mosin, Mauser, 1903, Enfield and such would make it and just because of sheer numbers being used in every craphole county around the globe AKs. I’d even guess Winchester lever guns would rank higher than ARs on the list.

I swear the gun grabbers must have hired the best advertising firm and PR agent to come up with these “ad campaigns” selling this bovine fecal matter.

Well, since the AR isn't and never has been either an assault weapon or a weapon of war both terms fit as well as calling a liberal a human being.

AR 15 has never been a weapon of war in that no army has ever been armed with them exclusively. Why mess with an AR 15 when you can have a select fire M-16 or M-4? Makes zero sense.

Anyway, the media has been getting beaten like a worn out drum with their 'high powered weapon' bull for a while. So they defaulted to 'assault weapon, and weapon of war' to dramatize their weak position. That generally works because the population is 60%+ so ignorant that they don't know the difference between the AR 15 and the M-16 and M-4, and don't care that they don't know. They look scary and must be banned.

Fine. I still have my M1-A. I guess it's not scary even if it is in a black stock.

I was listening to Fox News today and Lt. Col. Ralph Peterson was being interviewed and he stated he was for a ban on AR-15's as it was a weapon of war, the bullets tumbled and caused more damage to the enemy, they were not accurate and were not effective for hunting, etc. If the bullets tumble like he was programing why do so many bullseye shooters use them for target shooting?
He sounds like the typical uninformed person stating they are not good for anything but for mass shootings.
He is pathetic for someone with military experience.

Fox should quit using him for expert commentary.

The oooooooooooooooooooooooooold bullets did tumble. On impact. M193 in a 1:12" twist barrel did that. When they adopted with M16A2 with the 1:7" twist barrel, the bullets stopped doing that. Modern 1:9 twist barrels do the same thing, as does using ammo other than M193. The Lt. Col. is just stuck in antiquated thought.

The tumbling occurs post impact and is common to ball ammunition used for combat by many nations in many types of rifles.

Not accurate is an obsurd statement of farcical falsehood for sure.

A computer is a weapon of war. The application of that phrase is an indictment of the false proposition that infringement of the citizens right to bear arms is justified because of lack of need. In reality the weapon of war description justifies the exact opposite and should be an indictment a citizens constitutional right to have.

Trusting any news source is like letting someone else do your own thinking for you. They are nothing but propaganda and spin mills broadcasting what they want the useful idiots to hear.

Here you got this "weapons of war" crap going on, plus the whole "crisis actor" line being fed and people actually believe it. Do you know why? They are too intellectually lazy to understand the truth. They would rather be force fed crap than have to actually think.

Advanced weapons? A design from the 1950's that's now almost 60 years old? That makes the 1911 and M1 Garand just slightly less advanced! :rotflmao:

Yup! And we went to school back when schools were places of learning, not Jimmeh Cartas vision of government indoctrination camps for little proletariats via the U.S. Dept. of Education! :roll2:

An advanced weapon would be a pulse plasma rifle in 40KW range, and smart bullets that actually key on infrared body heat. We have rail guns, just nothing to shoot at with them. Since Trump got elected the Iranian bass boats are conspicuous by their absence in the Gulf. They do have a leaky old glorified destroyer escort that's cruising around in the Atlantic, and maybe in the Gulf of Mexico. The puddle pirates can sink it with one round if the Iranians get frisky.

I arrived at US Army Basic Combat training 10 May 1978 at FT Leonard Wood, MO. I was eventually issued a well worn "vintage" Colt military AR-15. The lower receiver was stamped as such plus U.S. Government Property. The selector switch was safe, semi, and auto. No bolt assist. No chromed chamber/barrel. 1 in 14" twist and M193 55 grain ".22 Short" ammo. Accuracy was determined completely by luck! I read an article in 1964 when the Air force acquired military AR-15s. I had no idea that the Army issued them. Information is scarce. Does anyone have any on this rifle?

This just in! The legislation, called the "Assault Weapons Ban of 2018," was introduced less than two weeks after the mass shooting at a Parkland, Fla., high school that left 17 people dead. The gunman used an AR-15 assault rifle during the shooting, one of the many firearms that would be banned under the bill.

That's the same old bill the old sea hag trots out from time to time, with added verbiage to account for the present incident in question, and whatever she thinks she can get away with. She was screeching like a banshee when the AWB reached its sunset date and proposed much the same bill then, and every few years afterward. She just puts new curtains on the same old dirty window and trots it out hoping it will fly.

Page 17 and 18 have that caveat that is in all her 'ass-hault weapons' bills that exempts All Federal entities, and local and State LE from the provisions of the bill. Gotta do that to keep the great unwashed proletariat in line don'tcha know.
