Any taking of private property without just compensation is going to put those Richard Craniums on some really shaky legal quicksand. There is ample evidence that this law is not going to fly on that basis alone. Just has to be taken up by the owners of the firearms owners in question and pushed hard. Local, state, and federal governments can't legally take without just compensation, unless the sheeple roll over and comply.

Unless things drastically change, you are correct. It seems some cities and towns are thumbing their nose at state and federal law and doing whatever they please.
You mean like Sanctuary Cities?

Me thinks this is just the beginning. It is fashionable now for the "useful idiots" at the local level to display their progressive credentials and get their commie card punched. At some point this will not go over well with the peasants and the pitchforks will come out. The "tree of liberty" thing is approaching rapidly, the up coming election could be decisive
Thismornings news (ABC) is givining the impression that town halls across the country are taking on policies of stricter gun control. This is so obviously exaggerated as easily seen by the repetitious limited angle frames of the same small groups that I feel justified calling it blatantly false.
Also this and other news sources I frequent have been painting a picture of Republicans achieving ever greater control of State and local governments for years. Seems to fly in the face of town halls all across the country discussing stricter gun control.
You are confused...FFL dealers are required to keep every 4473 forever...when the business closes, the "bound book(s)" are to be sent to BATF...
I am no longer confused. Thank you. 50 years ago when we were afraid of the 4473 being a backdoor registration scheme we were assured the forms were required to be destroyed after 90 days. So that was 100% propaganda.
My city has sued the state to be able to outlaw ARs. As it stands if they do, the govenor can relieve the mayor and all city officials that allow it and fine the 5000 bucks I already wrote a very polite letter to each involved and the governor
I think I heard part of a report about this on the radio. I got the impression that the State was standing on legal granite, and the city was going to be pounding sand. Of course Im not a lawyer, and I did miss some of the report.

My nearest town (Sandpoint, ID) is no exception. They tried to ban open carry because supposedly OC frightens the tourists. Sandpoint has forced residents to install sidewalks in front of their homes, banned "hands on" cell phone usage, and tried to ban all drive thru businesses. This is a town of 7000. I cannot vote in the elections, so make it very clear to the mayor and council where I spend my money.
When our governing officials dismiss due process as mere semantics, when they exercise powers they don’t have and ignore duties they actually bear, and when we let them get away with it, we have ceased to be our own rulers.
A lawsuit has been filed on the assault weapons ban in Deerfield. Don't know where/how it will go given state law in a decidedly Socialist state, though.
I've heard of more than one instance where bound books and 4473's from closed gun shops arrived at ATF after being stored a little too close to a leaky car battery. Sulfuric acid and paper don't gee-haw too well together!

I'm quite sure this is a common occurrence.
Just look at the flowers Lizzie, just look at the flowers.
Talking about the 4473's. Do you remember one of the first things the Russians did in Red Dawn. And that movie was written under a much different political climate for gun control.

It makes life interesting when you wake up wondering what new laws you are going to be breaking without even knowing it. ( it doesn't stop me from wanting to wake up )

Back during Bill Clinton's 8 years with Janet Reno as AG, I remember a lot of rumors about bound books meeting some strange circumstances. Clinton and Gore forced a LOT of dealers out of business during that time with rules changes, and 'stuff happened' to bound books that got sent in to the ATF regional offices. And at around the same time frame ATF got busted for making a database of ALL those bound books to show gun ownership. It wasn't the first time, nor the last time this has happened, either.

I bought a shotgun at a show from a dealer/shop owner years ago. He said he habitually did some type of Houdini trick with the 4473 well I was filling it out.
I remember that, but not what he said he did with them. CRS👴

Yep. They even called the form "4473" in the movie.

Not all of this is politics bias. Hysteria sells.
