Photobucket can photosuckit. Had they came out with this more reasonable fee before, they would be in better shape. I’m guessing a lot of folks told them to get bent when they wanted hundreds of bucks per year.

$20/year would have been reasonable and I would have gladly paid it... before they pulled their crap. Now? I want them to crash and burn in misery. They will never get a dime from me. Ever.
Bean counters screw up more than they ever helped. Think Winchester Model 70 and Remington as a whole company. How many stories have we heard about these idiots trying to save a penny and cost the company millions?
Daddy, what's an enabler?
Son that's somebody with nothing to do with his time but keep me in trouble with mom.
As you please. I've e got a number of photos stored there I can/t retrieve otherwise, and I wish them success. The turd is gone.
Why can’t you retrieve them? They just didn’t allow them to be posted in other places.
Because I moved almost all of my photos to another service. I'm familiar with how it works.
Ok.....so if you’re familiar, why did you say : ”As you please. I've e got a number of photos stored there I can/t retrieve otherwise, and I wish them success. The turd is gone.”

I think I'll sign up and get all my pics out of jail and see how it goes.
You don't need to sign up and pay. You can still get into your library and download your pictures back.. Tedious, but I do a few every week and will keep on going until I'm completely out.
For $2.99 a month wife and I have a few terabytes of iCloud for storage and backup, great for pictures (my wife has a library with over 40,000 in there). No need for the feeble platform Photobucket offers anymore. Their business model has run it's course and they will soon die...
To store lots and lots of files I've found the best solution is adding an external hard drive to the system. It's possible to get an 8 terabyte USB external drive for about $180.00, and if that's too expensive, smaller drives are available for less. With an external drive, I can lock it in a safe when it's not being used, and it doesn't get any better than that.
So I buy cloud storage from a company that I know will not fail me because it is super cheap. There is nothing wrong with triple insurance, my data is precious to me...
Yep. I have 2 layers of local backup, PLUS cloud storage in case the house burns down or whatever. You always should have at least one backup "over THERE" so to speak. Back in the day, it was a plastic case full of 8 inch floppies stored at my parent's house.

That works just fine for some folks. I already have a bank of external multi terabyte drives on two separate Macs at home AND an Apple Time Capsule for critical backups of data. I also have access to my company's cloud storage for all of my work stuff. All thedivces in my house can fry in an instant from power surges or any of them can just fail from a head crash. MTBF on consumer grade devices is not infinite.
So I buy cloud storage from a company that I know will not fail me because it is super cheap. There is nothing wrong with triple insurance, my data is precious to me and I want it to travel with me everywhere I go (be accessible from whatever device I have in my hands).
I won't trust my data at home to anyone; period. Head crashes are pretty much a thing of the past if a drive is allowed to spin down before it is moved. The protection for my entire system is a line conditioner that keeps the A/C voltage level constant at all times, USB devices can be connected/disconnected while the system is running, and nothing bad can happen to a disconnected drive if it is not dropped. For backups I use Retrospect, Silver Keeper and WD's SmartWare; each to different media. My wife's computer is backed up using Time Capsule, but only to an external drive.
