    Huh? WTH!

I only have the mag it came with and if it doesn't get better it will go back to Ruger.

Ron, I give it a 99% chance of becoming a completely reliable feeder with a clean and tuned-up of the mag. Follow the video TennMike posted,
Instead of the "2-3 turns" on the spring, I always go 8 "flats" on the nut. Nothing special about that number, just more specific than a vague "2 or 3 turns"

    Remington 710/770

Basically built to last 1 (if you're lucky) season

My son in law has some cheap Remington design but it's solid, just sort of clubby. Shoots good though. I'm thinking his is something like a model 783 or something.

I knew there was a good reason. Stay outta the bum wine Jerm!!!

Actually I knew better but the only reason I commented was to get you to spill the punch line. Then there was Wambi's explanation.

I watched the video and took my mag apart, it looked clean and worked fine according to the test in the video but cleaned it anyway and wound it 2 and a half turns. We outside and it shot all 10. I will have to get her to shoot it again but it would appear to be fixed. Thanks for the info.

I know it's not QUITE what the Op had in mind, but my personal worst civilian rifle ever was a Century Arms reworked CETME...lasted one magazine.

I had CETMEs and it worked great. Accurate, too.
