Marlin 1894 .45 Colt $499

About the best price I've seen on them. RK has a sale on them fer $499 and other Marlin lever rifles. The Cowboy with octagonal bbl is $799 and it has a different front sight(?). Both models have Ballard rifling and are 10+1 shot.

I used to want a lever in .45 Colt bad, but with my 2 Rugers, Blackhawk and New Vaquero I dunno. I don't plan on any CASS stuff and the Cowboy would look mo cool doing that.

I own an 1895 in 45-70 already. A .45 Colt would get fired a lot more fer sure.

I debating, but leaning no right now...............I think.

I've been in a 'Gun Funk' (if that makes sense) lately as to where I wanna go with my next purchase. I can easily afford it, but it ain't ringing my bell a whole lot right now.

But dang, a Rossi in .45 Colt cost about that much and Marlins have gotten over some of bad press they had after the move.

I do have plenty brass/bullets and have dies already, but I won't let that influence my decision. But .45 Colt is one caliber you need to reload for if you plan to shoot them a lot.

I have an 1894 in .44 Mag. That thing sure kicks like a blind bridled mule, though! Might be more fun in .45 Colt.

I took one of those to the SE shoot and with shipping and the transfer, I paid close to 800.00 for mine and I had shopped around for a while. That is a fantastic price.

I *LOVE* my Marlin .45 Colt levergun!  But I got an older model 1894 with a straight stock ("Texan" style) and 16.25" barrel (which are exceedingly hard to find).  Just bought a new Ruger Blackhawk SS .45 Colt/acp convertible with 4.62" barrel too, that will replace the one I have that is blued.

That is a GREAT price... You won't regret it.  The last few new ones I have seen looked pretty damn good.

<Raising eyebrow>. You think *that* kicks?  You do know that stout .45 Colt loads are ~10-15% stronger than a 44 mag, right?

Personally, I don't think either one kicks much.  Heck, that's what I used to train my wife to shoot her first deer with, and she'll tell you it kicks a lot less than her Tikka 7mm-08 that she loves.

OK, thought about it, grabbed 10  .45 Colt reloads of mine in my hand this morn and decided why not, should be fun to shoot...................so I ordered it.

$539.97 total with taxes and shipping. No X-fer fee when you have it sent to a RK store.

So I poked around and found spring kits from Wolff and others to slick it up some if I decide to do so later.

If I decide to shoot hot loads from it I may get a butt pad something like Hickok 45 has on his, looks like leather tie on with tassels hanging down. Since most of my shootin will be off a bench sitting down.

It did say allow 10 extra days to process on these, probably have to get them from Marlin or some distributor first. It's all good.

Later I think I'll buy a Henry .22 lever rifle to round out my small collection of them. This .45 Colt be the 2nd after my M-95 45-70.

    A .357 would be a good addition too I think...................later on.
