I don't know what lining a bore entails Gene it may be an option. I definitely want to try and send a few down range before anything.
You have to send it off to someone who does it. If your bore is "gravelly" it will restore it to pristine with no evidence on the outside. I've had a couple of guns relined, a .22 and a .30 Mauser. Not cheap, but very effective.
Concealed carry is for protection, open carry is for attention.
The gun will be a single shot to start. Carrier isn't picking up a round from the tube. Been checking on that doesn't seem like a bad fix. Did spray it down a bit yesterday to see if that may help.

It is amazing what a bit of lube in the right place can do for an action. I have an old pump shotgun who's action was locked up tight. Not knowing the gun and finding little about it, I brought it to a shoot and @Big Al1 fiddled a bit, added a few drops of oil to the correct place and it has functioned perfectly since.

You need to take the gun apart. Run a bronze brush of the appropriate size up and down the tube magazine (of course after you take out the spring and follower) same way as you cleaned the bore of years of crud. Clean out the spring and flush the whole thing with break cleaner first and then CLP. You MIGHT need a new mag spring. The old one is probably weak.

By what I was reading it may be the bottom of the carrier that is slightly worn and would need to be built back up. The cartridge isn't even starting out of tube. The spring seems to have good pressure.
Stopped by and found dies .,...yeah. Visited that Ruger too. Kid I hunt with has been looking for a 357 I think this may be it. I was sorely tempted to buy just for the grips.
If you don’t buy that Ruger I’ll never speak to you again. Those grips are worth over $200 maybe over $300 by themselves.
Our math is about the same..........250-3+ is what I had them pegged at. trouble is I'd want to keep them so no deposit no return The guns at 400 now but the topstrap has been drilled and tapped. He's had the gun .awhile now and even at a gunshow. It's kind of a consignment gun and I told the store owner if he drops it 50 I'd have a buyer. I don't think he's talked to the guy yet. I'm working on it..................crickets

Buy it put the black grips on & lower the price & then he will really be happy ......& you will too & not be going oh crap I should have jumped on that. Or I'll never see a deal on those grips again. You could tell the seller to throw in another set of grips with it. You can do it .

Talked to a LGS today who has one. He says the lifter is the reason most of them won't work, and it's impossible to get parts for them. He says the lifter has two little point extensions on it (which is my interpretation of what he said) and they almost always break off. I asked him if he could weld on these tiny points, and he said it might be possible to weld a strip across the lifter and file down the points. He said the extractors is why so many of them can be bought at a reasonable cost; one that works sells for $2k.

Those guys if they say it is in stock on the computer when you call to order then they say it is out of stock too. Hard to get parts some days. Tipping that wouldn't be to bad but it would take a lot of file & fits if you don't have the specs on the part. That is a winter project.
Probably same idea, but for a larger frame for a .44. Out of stock, which LGS indicated.
The 44 is a medium frame. They don't break off they wear down. They can be built back up. Information at times is only as good as the source. Look at the part I don't think your LGS guy is the best source.

That old Colt needs some TLC is all. NIB guns are ready to roll immediately. Anyone can run them. It takes someone special to resurrect a treasure.
