A little rain goes a long ways

not sure what happened to my first post

We haven’t had any significant rain in north central Texas since March.  Last Friday with the Weather Channel app saying 0% chance of rain, out of nowhere comes one violent storm, high winds, thunder and lightning that blew through and dumped 2.5” of rain in about an hour.

My my tank was almost 3.5’ down from its norm and going down further with each 100 degree plus day. We have a 3/4 mile runoff/drainage ditch which helps fill the pond. That 2.5” did the trick. The pond was over it’s banks and about 6” below it’s all time high. All I can say is thank goodness and the fish are happy happy happy!

Here are some before and after pictures

Distance is not an issue, but the wind can make it interesting!

It went crazy here too. I replied to your post & then nothing.
That rain turned a mud hole into a nice pond there.

We have small  and up to two three foot catfish, little up to five pound bass, and tons of blue gills some very large.  We usually do catch and release but we'll be doing a fish fry over labor day weekend.  There will be some unfortunate fish casualties that weekend!

I wish you could have some of our rain/storms from PA. All it's done this summer. Major flooding in parts of the state with some local. Never had much of a summer. Wouldn't want your extreme either though.

We have not had rain in a couple months even at that crops around here are at about normal yield.
Lakes are showing the lack of rain and we do need it so if you could send some our way we would appreciate it.

Amen to that.  We were told that July is typciall a wet month, but it was dry as a bone here.  Thankfully, August has been better, and we received quite a bit.

Yesterday, we made a 6 hour roundtrip to San Angelo (SW of here) and back.  The pastures along the way were very pretty and green.  That was nice.

Walking across my yard prior to the rains sounded like a bowl of Rice Crispy's with milk on them  with each step.  My pastures are starting to green up a bit and the $5K of sod I put down is showing a little green but it mainly toast.
